Bad hair again!
January 11th, 2010 by michelle.butterly
All I have to say about Kate Gosselin’s new hair extensions is “YIKES”!!!!!!
How on earth does someone who has “handlers” in her life, let her go from that atrocious Halloween wig worthy old hair do, to this 1980’s throw back??? I don’t get it.
Ya know…they even have computer programs out, where you can try out different styles, lengths, and colours, on your head before you let anyone touch your locks! And guess how much they cost her? 7 thousand bucks Baby!!!!! Do you have ANY idea how many pairs of shoes you can buy with 7 Grand???
Maybe I’m off on this one, but I really don’t think so…you decide for yourself.

Are you kidding me????

Scrape this
January 6th, 2010 by michelle.butterly
I had to scrape the windshield of my car for the first time this year….yuck!!!!!!! I usually don’t have to do that chore, as Carl leaves in the morning 3 hours before I do, so he usually cleans my car off for me while his is warming up. Not today.
Here is where I come off bad….I was actually a bit bitter about it. How bad is that???? The whole time I’m scraping the glass I’m thinking…”Oh THANKS Carl for making sure your wife has to get her coat all dirty doing something you should’ve done for her earlier”.
Yes, I know I’m spoiled rotten, but I will say, as soon as that thought crossed my mind…I put myself in check and realized how ridiculous that sounded in my head.
Now here’s my dilemma…..do I mention it to him when I get home tonight(just in case he only forgot because it’s been off his radar since last winter), or just wait and be pleasantly surprised the next time I come out in the morning and it’s done for me?
Okay STOP rolling your eyes at me, I actually DO know the answer to that question. ![]()
2010
January 4th, 2010 by michelle.butterly
I really hope this is going to be a great year!!!! It’s not like 2009 was bad for me or anything, but it just kind of came and went with nothing spectacular about it…so I’d like this year to blow me away…in a good way of course.
The holidays were fantastic this year!!! My Mom was with us for 5 days over Christmas and her Birthday (the 28th), and then it was just me, Lili Mae, and Carl over the New Years break. I actually spent 2 whole days in my p.j.’s, (not back to back days because if I did that it would be pointing at depression…not laziness) which I loved!!!!
We went to my friend Ruth’s place for a dinner party on the 1st, but other than that, we were home bodies. On New Years Eve we went out early for wings and beer and then rented a few videos, and then just before midnight we took Lili and walked to the end of our street to watch the fireworks over the lake to bring in the New Year…it was really nice.
I will say this though….don’t always trust the “video store guy” to give you good advise about what movies to rent. The kid at our local store said…and I quote….”I have seen hundreds and hundreds of movies over the years, and this movie is my all time favorite! In fact, I guarantee you’ll love this movie, and if you don’t, you can come back here and punch me in the face…I’m THAT confident you’ll like it”! Well guess who’s getting punched right in the kisser???? He told us to rent Pontypool, and Dude…it was awful!!!!! Now, we are not REALLY going to punch the kid out(although I’m sure it would be therapeutic some how), but I am going to ask him if he knows how I’m going to get those 95 minutes it took me to watch that crap back! lol
Christmas stuff
December 22nd, 2009 by michelle.butterly
With Christmas right around the corner….there’s lots on my mind…so much to do….or put off, I haven’t decided yet on some issues.
The outside of our home has garland and big red bows draped around the white picket fence and pretty lights on the trees out front…the inside however is a different story all together. I still do not have a tree! I know….I know…it’s December 22nd, but now that I’ve put it off this long, I’m starting to think maybe I will go without this year.
Totally “Bah Humbug” I get that, but really, we’re having a small Christmas celebration at our place Christmas Day with only 4 of us in attendance so I think I’ll let my laziness win out this time around.
I still have to get the grocery shopping done, and that is usually a solo job for me, but I’m recruiting Carl to help me this year. Not because I need the man power, but because he helps to keep me sane so I don’t snap my noodle on some poor unsuspecting soul who happens to accidentally run into me with a shopping cart. lol To say “I do not like crowds” is an understatement.
I am looking forward to seeing my Mom, and hanging out with my nieces for sure….and eating some stuff I only get once a year. My Mom always brings her shortbread…which even taste good when they’re puck hard believe it or not. My Sister in Law Joyce makes me a batch of special cookies and treats every year, and I make a Trifle for dessert Christmas Day that Carl would eat single handedly if I let him….but since it’s one of my favorites…he’s pretty good about just taking one helping. Me…well lets just say, that I could care less about the cake at the bottom of it, but the rest….with raspberries, custard (that I make extra creamy by melting white chocolate into it), and fresh whipping cream…I eat a double portion every year.
Ohhhh…and then, I make every excuse I can to go into the kitchen for the rest of the night so I can sneak into the fridge and dip 2 fingers in the bowl just so I can have another taste. Not elegant…but definitely me. :)
Torch
December 17th, 2009 by michelle.butterly
The Olympic Torch for the 2010 Vancouver Games is passing through the GTA today!
The CN Tower will be lit up tonight in blue, green, and gold showing their support.
I showed my Canadian pride by wearing my red mitts adorned with our Maple Leaf into work this morning…..even though they CLEARLY do NOT match my outfit!!! I’m a matchy matchy kind of girl..so to wear those mitts with my orange scarf, and purple coat….almost killed me!!!!! I wanted to wear a tag explaining my fashion faux pas.
If you would like to get these mitts…and if you do PLEASE don’t wear them with orange….go to any Bay or Zellers Store…they’re only 10 bucks!!!!
Back at it
December 15th, 2009 by michelle.butterly
I just got back from 2 weeks vacation, and wow, it’s amazing how relaxed I feel…I hope the feeling lasts until Christmas!!!
We spent 2 weeks at the Secrets Silversands in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico….and loved every second of it! I am nicely bronzed for all the Christmas parties we’re going to….ummm okay we were not invited to any, but if we were, I’d look good. lol
The resort was nice and the service was pretty good too. They had Corona on tap, so now I have to get the couple of pounds I gained, off before Xmas…okay maybe it was the beer AND the desserts EVERYDAY that helped me eat me jeans tight on this vacation! I hate when that happens.
Lili Mae had a blast at Bill and Joyce’s place. She has a new best friend in their new pup Benny….apparently they were thick as thieves for the whole 2 weeks…and she didn’t miss me at all!!! Imagine?? Here’s my big girl Lili (right), and her new buddy Benny. (whose entire body is smaller than her head)
Roast dinner
November 24th, 2009 by michelle.butterly
I bought a big hunk of meat to make a nice roast beef dinner for Carl on Sunday…and then got so cranky….I ruined it for myself!!!! What a COMPLETE loser! lol
In my defense, I’ve been down with a bad cold for the last little bit, so I’ve been “off my game” for sure. Still…no reason to blame Carl for EVERYTHING….although on Sunday, he could NOT win!!! ‘
The morning started out just fine. I got up, made a coffee, and headed out to the park with Lili Mae, and she had a great play session with her fur buddies, so all was good. It started going down hill from there. When I got back to the house, I reminded Carl that we were going to take my Mom out to look for new taps for the bathroom that she is renovating right now. So…okay, off the 3 of us go…and the entire time we’re out…Carl is acting like he’d rather be anywhere else BUT there.
So, clearly I get upset with him because….I have a drivers license…AND my own car….so I could’ve come out to do all this stuff with just me and my Mom….I didn’t need him there. So why come out and ruin the whole “shopping vibe” for us , when he could have stayed home and been miserable there instead of sharing his misery with us?????
Okay…so then we go home, and it’s time for me to get the roast ready to put in the oven. Everything is fine…for the time being.
1:45 hrs later
I’m now in a tizzy. Kudos to you, if you don’t freak out in the kitchen right before everything is due to hit the table. I can honestly say…I do EVERY time!
I have everything timed perfectly. The roast is out of the oven, covered and “resting” while I put the yorkshire pudding in the oven for the 20 minutes it requires. In the meantime, the spuds are ready to be mashed…and Carl likes them super whipped, so I needed the hand blender…and it’s not in it’s regular spot. Where is it????
This is where I start losing my mind. I am the first person to say…I AM NOT PROFICIENT IN THE KITCHEN….so I can’t be thrown the smallest curveball…or I begin to come undone. lol
Now, picture me standing in the doorway of our livingroom….while Carl is parked on the couch waiting for his dinner…..(I actually think it was the “waiting for his dinner” part that sent me over the edge) …screaming “…what did you do with the hand blender”? He says “it’s in the kitchen and why are you yelling at me”? And I swear to you I didn’t even wait one beat before I blurted out, “because I’m bitter that I’m cooking for YOU in the kitchen while your arse is firmly planted on the sofa”!!!!
You’ll never guess who knew NOT to say anything at that moment…because I swear to Jesus if he did…I would have brained him??? Yes…my sane and lovely husband Carl.
It’s times like these I realize what a great pair we are. When I’m completely “losing it”…..he stays calm and does not “ramp me up” any further and I do the same for him when he comes unglued.
Of course…I become unhinged WAAAAAAY more than he does, but I think you already knew that. ![]()
Oprah’s announcement
November 20th, 2009 by michelle.butterly
I started watching The Oprah Show when I was a teenager, so really, I’ve grown up on Oprah.
I’ve met a lot of stars and musical artists over the years…everyone from Madonna to Celine Dion, to Lionel Richie, to Phil Collins, Bono..I’m not trying to brag here….I just wanted to give you a bit of prospective…but if you asked me, who is “the one” star you still want to meet..I always say “Oprah Winfrey”!!!
She’s the bomb man…and even I got a little sad when she announced today that her talk show…that a lot of us still see everyday… would be coming to an end in 2011…18 months from now.
Here’s the video….and have a great weekend. I know it’ll be better than mine, as this is “clean out the eavestrough” weekend! Whoo hoo!
I have a tiny crush on Gordon Ramsey
November 18th, 2009 by michelle.butterly
Everyone knows I love watching Hells Kitchen when it’s on. Some people are offended by Gordon Ramsey’s abusive tongue to his want-to-be chefs….but I find it quite amusing. At least you know where you stand with the man, and I appreciate that. There’s nothing worse than guessing how someone REALLY feels….I’m all about “getting it out there”…as ALL of my friends can attest!
Whether or not you can cook, this sounds like a TOTAL blast! Gordon Ramsey is going to have an hour long cook-a-long special coming up in December and I’m going to try it….and if you do too…you TOTALLY have to let me know, (after the fact) if your dishes turned out, and I’ll do the same.
