In a rare occurence WWE fired a Superstar and had him appear on TV the same day. This was the fate of Scotty Goldman, a jobber in WWE and better known as star performer Colt Cabana in Ring of Honor. Since Smackdown is taped earlier in the week, Scotty was shown getting squashed in a match against Umaga tonight, but was actually let go this afternoon. Goldman, Cabana, or whatever you want to call him never really received a chance in the company and was recently doing some segments on WWE.com and colour commentary for Florida Championship Wrestling. I’m sure he will be back on the indy scene in no time and more then likely in Ring of Honor.

TNA star Petey Williams was released officially on Thursday from the company following his loss on Impact in a tag match to Beer Money Inc. He was actually more then likely given his walking papers earlier in the week. Williams joined TNA in 2004 as part of Team Canada and debuted one of the most impressive finishers in wrestling history: The Canadian Destroyer. If you have not seen this move do yourself a favour and youtube it. Petey is an exceptional talent and if it wasn’t for his diminutive size would be a fantastic fit for the WWE. I expect some Ring of Honor work as well for Mr. Williams.

Recently retired WWE Diva Victoria is currently training for…mixed martial arts! Victoria had been with WWE for 9 years and is 38 years old. Despite the obvious disadvantage of her age and no MMA training, Victoria also has a bum knee that requires a brace. She does not have an affiliation with any organization as of yet, and it is unclear when the former wrestler will make her MMA debut.

In some sad news a gentleman named Helmut Guttmann died this week indirectly because of WWE Hall of Famer and AWA founder Verne Gagne. Verne is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and got into an altercation with the 97 year old Guttmann on January 26 where Gagne actually body slammed the man! The slam broke Guttmann’s hip and he passed away due to complications.

In other news, TNA wrestler Bobby Roode re-signed with the organization for 5 years.
