… and the survey says!

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

James and I asked the question: ” Do you think our kids are growing up too quickly?” We invited you to answer on our website .. ezrocksoo.com .. and you did. Here are some of your answers ….

-Yes, I definately think that kids are growing up too fast nowadays. I recently went and saw the movie “Grown Ups” It shows you how kids these days are growing up too fast…if one of the kids in the film wanted something from his Nanny; he texted her and she brought it to him. LOL Bye the way, great show.

-They start school way too early…Europe (most) they start at age 7yrs. not 3yrs!! They learn all this technical stuff very early as well.

-Yes I don’t believe in all the make-up and kid’s pageants. Even some of the dancers around the Sault are made up to look trampy! I am sure parents aren’t impressed with costume choices.

-When you see a little girl who is 5-10 years old(can’t tell their true age nowadays) and you see them getting their makeup and nails done, and they are telling their mother what to do, you know they are growing up too fast! What is wrong with these parents? Let them go out and play in the mud, let them be kids! Too many SPOILED brats running around!!

Some great answers! Thanks for all your responses and ..

Great Idea

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

James Warner Smith was live, on location at the Delta Hotel on the waterfront this morning. The Hotel chain is doing a national tour, setting up a “drive through” at their different hotels in order to raise money for worthy causes in each community. This morning, the money from the purchase of coffee, donuts and other goodies will go to Community Living Algoma.
Kudos to a large Hotel chain, giving back to communities that house their facilities.

Idol workouts

Monday, June 28th, 2010

While other Idols might be watching T.V., texting or strumming their guitars before or after concerts while on tour, Michael Lynche and Tim Urban will be doing some serious workouts Before he was on “American Idol,” Big Mike was a personal trainer. Really!? Lynche says he and Urban have been talking about what equipment they’ll need to bring on the tour to keep up with their workout while they’re on the road. They’re thinking about a chin-up bar and maybe some dumb bells for the bus.
First, Big Mike needs a pretty secure base for chin ups, secondly I didn’t know he was a personal trainer .. I just thought he was…uh..well .. you know .. “substantial” ;)

We all scream .. or smile .. for ice cream

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

This summer mega-conglomerate Unilever has set up a vending machine in Cannes, France that enables passers-by to score free ice cream simply by smiling into its facial recognition software. The ‘Share Happy’ machine can sense when it’s being approached, then captures and measures your smile 15 times a second, and when it’s wide enough, rewards you with ice cream!
I sure hope this doesn’t come to Canada .. I’ll be as big as a house!

Building a baby?

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

BeautifulPeople.com, the dating website with a strict ban on ugly people (how do you market that one?) has been online since 2002 and has 600,000 members. It’s latest revenue stream is a planned ‘virtual sperm bank’ meant to help users maximize their chances of having attractive children. Couples and women looking for donors will be able to join the new ‘fertility forum.’ Men are also able to make a ‘donation.’ Interestingly, the fertility program will be available to both members and non-members.
Because, no matter what you look like, they’re quite happy to take your money!
For all us ‘non Beautiful People’ …

Labels we need to get right!

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

The words ‘moron’, ‘imbecile’ and ‘idiot’ are not interchangeable. The one with the highest level of intelligence is a moron, followed by an imbecile and then an idiot.

I wonder what moronic, idiotic imbecile came up with this!? I mean, where I come from, DUH is DUH! ; )

Solstice

Monday, June 21st, 2010

“Summer” officially arrived in the Northern Hemisphere with the Summer Solstice this morning at 7:28 EDT. It’s the date with the longest day and shortest night of the year. “Solstice” comes from the Latin words ‘sol’ (sun) and ‘sistit’ (stands). The sun doesn’t set at the North Pole today because there’s 24 hours of sunlight.
I’m already hearing how quickly time has gone by, “it’s already June 21st?” Yup, it is, so let’s make this summer a healthy, safe one!

Chicken Nightmare

Friday, June 18th, 2010

So, I’m prepping to host girls’ night dinner at my house this past week and planned on marinating chicken breasts overnight. To my chagrin, I quickly discovered (the smell almost knocked me on my behind) that the meat had “turned” .. before it’s due date. So, I send my hubby to another grocery store to pick rotisserie chicken pieces. I need twenty because there are 8 of us and I want to make sure I have at least two pieces each. Keep in mind this is dinner time .. the deli was out of chicken! Yup, one piece left. So he toddles off to the same grocery store I originally bought the chicken from (the stinky stuff) and heads towards their deli. He asks for 20 pieces and the deli worker says he can’t have that much because they only have 30 total and that wouldn’t leave them with enough inventory! OK, so, again, this is dinner time and besides, could they not make more?! Unbelievable!
I open another bottle of wine for the girls and call RJ’s to the rescue. Delicious chicken and as much as I needed! Guess where I’m going next time I need chicken ..

Have a great weekend and I’ll see ya Monday morning,

Our Poor Pooches!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Researchers believe that years of domestication have robbed pet dogs of the problem-solving skills they once had in the wild. According to a new Australian study, pet dogs fail basic intelligence tests that wolves and wild dogs pass with ease…
Ok, so, a dog’s life. Eat, sleep, go outside, lick your master .. doesn’t sound unintelligent to me!

Old Radio

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

A 70 year old vintage tabletop radio at the Montrose Air Station Heritage Center in Scotland has been picking up radio broadcasts from the WW2 era. Several people have heard the vintage broadcasts, inclduing the big band sound of the Glenn Miller Orchestra and speeches by Winston Churchill. The broadcasts come at random and last up to a half hour. What’s strange is .. the radio isn’t plugged into a power outlet and technicians who’ve opened it up, found nothing but cobwebs and spiders. Yikes! Those are some pretty talented spiders .. hope they’re not interested in the morning show at EZ Rock…
