It was SO hot out on the weekend: 31 Friday, 33 Saturday, and high 20’s yesterday.

I discovered something interesting about myself; the hotter it gets, the less I care about what people
think. This epiphany came to me late Saturday night… as I was sitting out on my front step in my underwear.

25 degrees - I’ll take my shirt off when I’m mowing the lawn
27 degrees - I’m drinking from the garden hose
30 degrees - I’m wading in the fountain at the Ledge (the hygienic equivalent to playing in a urinal)
33 degrees - There I am on the front step eating a fudge-sicle in my underwear.

Whenever that hot summer sun comes out, I’m like a were-redneck. I’m convinced if we hit 37 this summer, I’ll just instinctively start moving appliances out onto my front step.

Our Lady Peace singer Raine Maida, and bassist Duncan Coutts were in Edmonton to have their picture taken with a Mister Clean lookalike, some idle chitchat… oh yeah, and to play the Edfest Stage at Capital Ex.

Radio Spelling Champion on Edmonton

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Take pride in the fact that you are listening to the greatest speller on the radio in Edmonton. Last night at the Comic Strip, radio folks from around the city competed in a dirty spelling bee hosted by local comedienne, Kathleen McGee.  The word that clinched my victory, “Xenophile” (don’t look it up). Words cannot begin to describe the pride I felt walking through West Edmonton Mall with my trophy. Here’s a picture of it.

Weezer is putting the finishing touches on the band’s seventh studio album now. With the title and release date yet to be announced. The band is also working on a deluxe edition of its classic album Pinkerton.

Meanwhile, something else of interest for Weezer fans: a group who calls themselves Pterodactyl Squad have paid tribute to the band by recreating a handful of its classic tunes using original videogame hardware. Picture Super Mario and Donkey Kong forming a Weezer cover band. Hear the tracks here: http://www.ptesquad.com/more/pte018.html
