Public Enemies opens in theatres tomorrow, a movie about notorious bankrobber John Dillinger, the first ever ‘Public Enemy’. It’s essentially just a cops and robbers flick with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, but it DOES look pretty good.
I saw a commercial for the film yesterday that said Public Enemies is the best movie of the year. Kind of a bold statement, isn’t it? It’s JUNE!!! We’re barely half way through the year. Nothing good will come out in the next 6 months? Why do movie makers do this to us? Are we that gullible? I certainly don’t think so.
The way I see it, if you’re going to make those outlandish claims — lie, why stop there? Make it a good lie. It’s the best movie you will ever see in your life. When this movie comes out on DVD, you will quit your job just so you can sit at home and watch it over and over again. It’ll cure cancer! Bring peace to the middle east! End world hunger!
