Pink Drinks??

July 22nd, 2010 by Kenny Jones

Local bars and restaurants are going to have pink drink specials this Friday. The local chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation wondering if you’re tough enough to drink pink. For every pink drink sold, a dollar will be donated to the local CBCF. Check www.mymcmurray.com to find out where you can get pink in your drink.

On that note I found this cool list on line….enjoy

Not all bars are the same, so you need to pick the one that fits the type of night you’re looking to have.

Here are the Top 10 types of bars:

  1. The neighborhood dive. No food (except for pretzels and peanuts). No frills. A clientele of loyal, local regulars.
  2. The pub. Like the neighborhood dive, but cleaner and you don’t have to be a regular. Also typically has good beer and some greasy food.
  3. The high concept bar. This is for the “I’m more sophisticated than you” crowd.
  4. The hotel bar. Nice and comfortable, and just a few feet away from a room.
  5. The vertical bar. Usually found in a basement and catering to a specific type of clientele.
  6. The full-of-itself bar. There are no bartenders here. They’re called mixologists and they’re not there to pour you a beer.
  7. The plastic bar. This is made entirely for the yuppie crowd.
  8. The strip club. Mandatory two-drink minimums for watered down, over-priced drinks.
  9. The live music joint. Here you’ll rub up against a noisy crowd of sweaty patrons.
  10. The sports bar. Great for beer, talking, cheering, brawling and puking.

For Fun Today!

The nuumber one most annoying word is “whatever.” If you’re like, “whatever,” and someone gives you a mean look, just remember it is what it is: Certain sayings rub people the wrong way, you know? Anyway, at the end of the day, who cares? In a recent Marist College poll, nearly half of Americans (47%) said “whatever” is the most annoying word of all, most likely because it can be used to pointedly dismiss others as being inconsequential. The top 5 most annoying words and phrases:

  1. Whatever, 47%
  2. You know, 25%
  3. It is what it is, 11%
  4. Anyway, 7%
  5. At the end of the day, 2%

Also for fun today………..

Happy birthday to Kevin Bacon. The actor and musician turns 52 today. Bacon has appeared in more than 60 films including his breakout role in Footloose. He’s also best-known for his roles in She’s Having a Baby, Tremors, Flatliners, J.F.K, A Few Good Men, Sleepers, Wild Things and Mystic River. He’s also released six albums with his brother Michael Bacon as The Bacon Brothers. And of course there’s the six-degrees of Kevin Bacon game which is based on the assumption that any actor can be linked through his or her film roles to Bacon within six steps.

June 25th, 2010 by Kenny Jones

Well, the 2010 school year has come and gone. I can’t believe how fast it goes. It seems like yesterday my son, Liam, was heading to Kindergarten with Mrs Kellington. WOW.

Three high schools are sending another crop of our kids into the world or work, university, college, and so on.

My only words of advice to the graduating class of 2010 is to enjoy, enjoy, enjoy this coming Summer!  I remember the day I finished high school, I was a bit scared of what lie ahead, but let me tell you, for those 2 months between July and August I had a blast and will never forget those good times!

Also, if I could add PLEASE play safe. If you have a few drinks I beg you not to get behind the wheel of a car! Call your folks, friends, a neighour, a cab, or a bus; I’m sure anybody will understand and help you out!Have a blast and enjoy every second of the next 72 hours — you deserve it!

And remember: don’t wake up with a bad tattoo!!!

Have fun!

Your friend,

Kenny!

Another Question???

June 24th, 2010 by Kenny Jones

You know that summer has officially arrived when you hear that repetitive music blaring from the ice cream truck as it rolls down your street. And then hot, sugar-craving kids clutching dollar bills instinctively race to get a frozen treat.

As an adult, do you still get excited by the arrival of the ice cream truck?

What are some other things you’d buy from a truck in the summer? Maybe a barbecue truck that drives around the neighborhood selling burgers and hot dogs?

We do have a Booster Juice truck and a few Lunch trucks but what would you like to see rolling around McMurray???
