Cowboys Stadium Preps For Super Sunday
Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011
Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas is the venue for Super Bowl 45. The game itself sees the Pittsburgh Steelers facing the Green Bay Packers for the big prize, and the only thing bigger in this game is the stadium. This brand new stadium built down there is the largest domed stadium in the world. It seats 80,000 people, with enough standing room to hold 110,000. It also has the world’s biggest HDTV that hangs from the roof, and stretches from the 20 yard line on one end, to the 20 yard line on the other. That’s a screen that measures nearly 60 yards across. What does a building like this cost? It is estimated to have cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.3 billion dollars US. According to Wikipedia, to help the Cowboys owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, in paying the construction costs of the new stadium, voters in the city of Arlington approved the increase of the city’s sales tax by 0.5%, the hotel occupancy tax by 2%, and car rental tax by 5%. The building is fantastic, and in the clip below, you’ll get a quick look at the stadium, and what they are doing to get it ready for Super Sunday!
