Well, day one of the Fox “Big Bag Of Cash” contest is in the books, and we’ve already given away $1730 cash, and a $200 gift card. Lance Ross was the first winner, taking home $720, and could have won $1200, had he kept playing. And had he kept playing, a chance at $750. Now, this was the first day of the contest, but by no means is it the last. We have a ton of cash to give away, and every single game play occasion gives you the chance to pull out a whopping fistful worth up to $10,000! Not only that, but you could also win some sweet prizes, as well as the cash, along the way. We will play the game 3 times on weekdays, at 7:15 a.m., 2:15 p.m., and again at 4:15 p.m. Once we make the announcement, at the times mentioned, you will have to be caller seven at 472-7625, and you’re in the game … simple as that! Stone Temple Lip Synching?
August 30th, 2010 by ken.anderson
Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland fell off the stage at a concert last week. And as if that isn’t bad enough, fan filmed video of the incident has caused some to speculate that he may be lip synching in concert. Here is the link to the video … www.antiquiet.com/news/2010/08/scott-weiland-lip-synching/
Skip to 1:25 in the video to see, and hear, for yourself. You be the judge, and don’t forget that comments are always welcome.
My New Favorite Vacation Destination
August 18th, 2010 by ken.anderson
This past weekend, August 13th – 15th, myself, Mitch, Vicki and her family, and a gang of friends went to a place just outside Algonquin Park called Spirit Point Wilderness Academy and Camp. I didn’t know what to expect when we headed down the highway, but when we arrived, just looking around at the facility I knew right then we were really going to have a good time. And to say we had “a good time”, is a huge understatement! This place is absolutely fantastic! They are located on Hinsberger Lake, a lake loaded with Smallmouth Bass, and we did our share of fishing while there, but that’s just the beginning. They have a lot more outdoor activities to keep folks busy, but it was the “Challenge Course Area” that really makes this place one of a kind. Check out the video of myself, Mitch, and Vicki on the 45 foot rock climbing wall, and the Zip Line through the trees. To see all that Spirit Point has to offer, visit www.spiritpoint.ca.
I Met a Wrestling Legend
August 12th, 2010 by ken.anderson
What a surprise I got while walking the halls of Rogers Radio yesterday (Wednesday August 11th, 2010). I met a wrestling legend. A guy named Ted Dibiase, better known as “The Million Dollar Man”. Like a lot of kids growing up in the 80’s I watched, at the time, WWF Wrestling. Ted was a bad guy, a heel, an entertainer, and the guy that people loved to hate. His character was one of the biggest of the time, and definitely one of the men who made that company what it is today. He was in the building to do an interview on one of the other stations here at Rogers Radio North Bay. I wasn’t told about this, so you can imagine the look on my face when I saw him at the front door. If it’s possible, he looked even bigger that the monster of a man I remember watching on television almost 2 decades ago. When you think of the “The Million Dollar Man”, what comes to mind? I remember the big laugh, the “Million Dollar Belt”, and him stuffing money into the mouth of his defeated opponent … “because every man has his price.” Things have changed over the years for Mr. Dibiase … BIGTIME! DiBiase is now a Christian minister who runs combined Christian/wrestling events under the promotion, Power Wrestling Alliance. In 1999, he founded Heart of David Ministries. Ted is also the author of “Every Man Has His Price”, a part- autobiography and part-Christian testimony. And earlier this year, Ted was announced as the first inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2010.
My Life In A Day Submission
July 28th, 2010 by ken.anderson
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the film that Director Kevin MacDonald, and Producer Ridley Scott are putting together, using videos that were shot on Saturday July 24th, and uploaded to YouTube. The movie is going to be a look at the world through the eyes of the average Joe. Well, I have shot a crazy amount of footage, edited it down, and uploaded it last night. With a little luck some of, or all of, my submission gets used. There is some sweet shots of David Wilcox, and Peter Frampton performing, crazy conversations with some friends, and my first time attending the now infamous “Ditch Party”. The cool thing about this film, “Life In A Day”, is that everyone that has uploaded video that gets included, will be credited as a co-director, and the people that sent in the 20 best clips will get to attend the Sundance Film Festival to see the premiere. Check out my submission below, but be aware that a couple of friends use some strong language (a couple of F Bombs) in the video.
I Think I Know Where Roger Waters and David Gilmour Will Reunite
July 28th, 2010 by ken.anderson
Roger Waters will kick off another tour by playing three shows in Toronto in mid September, and by now you’ve probably heard that he will be playing “The Wall” in it’s entirety to celebrate the 30th anniversary of it’s release. What you may not have heard, is that his former Pink Floyd band mate, David Gilmour, will join him on stage at one of the dates on this tour. Now, these two have had their share of disputes, and a feud going for years, but have decided to put that aside for the sake of the fans. And I think I know where this “reunion” will happen. The album “The Wall” was first thought of after an incident that happened during on the final date of the band’s 1977 “In The Flesh Tour”, where Roger Waters showed some frustration with the behaviour of the audience, and eventually reached a point where he spat in the face of a fan in the front row. That fan, and concert was in Montreal at Olympic Stadium. If there was a way to say a great big , “Sorry” to the fans in Montreal, this would be the way to do it. I am willing to bet that they will reunite on stage at the Bell Centre on one of the two nights the tour rolls in to town. The dates are October 19th, and 20th. Place your bets.

With the help of director Kevin MacDonald, producer Ridley Scott, and a
few hundred other filmmakers, YouTube is making a movie. YouTube is
organizing the creation of “Life in a Day,” a project that plans to document
this Saturday, July 24th, with user-submitted videos from around the world.
YouTube is asking people to upload footage of their daily lives.
Contributors will have a week to upload their videos to YouTube.
Macdonald said he’s more concerned that he won’t get material that’s
honest and says, “Honesty is what I want.” To find out more, or when the
time comes to upload your video, log on to youtube.com/lifeinaday.
Disco Demolition Night
July 13th, 2010 by ken.anderson
Disco Demolition Night was a promotional event that took place on July 12th, 1979, at comiskey Park in Chicago. It was held during a double header between the White Sox and the Detroit Tigers. A popular Chicago DJ name Steve Dahl had been fired from a local radio station when its programming shifted from rock to an all-disco format. Dahl was then hired by rival rock station. The guys from this station, with help from Mike Veeck, the son of then-White Sox owner Bill Veeck, came up with a promotion that involved people bringing unwanted disco records to the game in exchange for an admission fee of 98¢ (the fee representing the station’s location on the FM dial, 97.9). The records were to be put in a box at center field, and then blown up. The turnout for this promotion exceeded all expectations. White Sox management was hoping for a crowd of 12,000, but an estimated 90,000 turned up at the 52,000-seat stadium. Thousands of people climbed walls and fences to enter the park, off-ramps to the stadium were closed. Thousands of fans rushed the field, lit fires, the batting cage was pulled down and wrecked, and the bases were stolen, along with chunks of the field itself. Eventually, the field was cleared by Chicago police in riot gear. The field was so badly torn up that the umpires decided the second game couldn’t be played. Even though Bill Veeck, owner of the Sox, took a lot of the heat for the fiasco, it was known among baseball people that his son Mike was the actual front-office “brains” behind it. As a result, Mike was blacklisted by the MLB. Later, when he was asked about that night during an interview Mike said, “The second that first guy shimmied down the outfield wall, I knew my life was over!” Check out video of Disco Demolition Night at this link.
Professional Eating
July 5th, 2010 by ken.anderson
Joey Chestnut defended his Hot Dog Eating Contest title at Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y. yesterday. His main competition Takeru Kobayashi was there, but did not compete. Just as the eaters were getting ready to start the event Kobayashi was carried through the crowd on the shoulders of another man. Apparently MLE (Major League Eating), and Kobayashi were not able to come to terms to a contract, so Kobayashi was not allowed to enter the contest. After the eating was finished Kobayashi attempted to get to the main stage. He was seen fighting wih three New York City police and event security. He made it onto the stage, but was taken off the platform and arrested. I think it’s pretty sad that people in third world countries are fighting just to get a bite of something, and this guy decides to fight because he couldn’t get his chance to chow down on 50+ hot dogs on network television. Check the link below for raw footage of the event, and the arrest.

Chestnut’s total was 54 hot dogs and buns in ten minutes. Tim “Eater X” Janus took second place with 45 hot dogs and buns, and Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti came in thrid with 37.
A Train Comes Off The Tracks
June 22nd, 2010 by ken.anderson
This is a video a friend showed me. Much like police cars, trains also have cameras mounted inside them. This video shows what the rear facing camera managed to catch. For the first little bit, the train is moving smoothly along the tracks. Soon you will see rain beginning to fall, and the trees start to sway violently. That is when the “fun” begins.
