I’ve been facinated by Marilyn Monroe for as long as I can remember. As an actress and women she was so underated and misunderstood. As a pinup she’ll never be matched. The glamour and the mystery she exuded are encompassing and I never get tired of watching her act or learning more about her strange, sometimes sad story.
Because I’m such a big fan, I’ve seen most of her pictures a thousand times. So when I stumble across something I’ve never seen before I get a thrill. Here are a couple of lesser known Marilyn shots that I love. The one in the truck is from the movie “The Misfits.” I wonder what she’s contemplating?
Our Tallulah is named after the seriously sassy actress Tallulah Bankhead. She was well ahead of her time and is known for her shocking quotes. “I’m as pure as the driven slush…” (That’s the cleanest one I found to post here!) Considering she was making movies in the dirty thirties it’s safe to say she was a groundbreaking force for women in the movies.
This link will take you to a fabulous gallery of some of old Hollywood’s most beautiful and talented at their best. Sofia Loren, Grace Kelly, Ava Gardner, Bridgette Bardot, Janet Leigh. They could be so sexy and so demure simultaneously. I dare say most young starlets of today will just never match that combonation or the beauty, brains, glamour and class of these dames!
Do you ever read Vanity Fair magazine? They have such good articles about “old Hollywood.”
- KarenThank you for the tip about Prince Edward Is. I’d love to see that area. One of my dreams is to take some beach glass trips, planned around hiking beaches and searching for glass. That sounds so restful and yet adventurous, too. Blessings to you!
