I don’t know about you…but I NEED a little sunshine right now…………

I LOVE the beach. It’s my favourite place in the world to be. I’m a Pisces, (sign of the fish) a water baby and being born in PEI perhaps has something to do with it. Nowhere am I more at home then when my toes are in the surf and sand.
Todd and I booked our 2nd annual trip to the Mayan Riviera yesterday. This year my best friend from high school Jennifer (we go by Jennifer-Anne and Jennifer-Lynn while we are together to avoid confusion….) and her hubby Dave are joining us and we are so pumped!
We fell in love with the Mayan people, culture, history, food, landscape, beaches and music last year. Their gentle spirit and wonderful smiles drew us back again. From the ancient ruins at Tulum (google this…facinating!) to the 7 shades of Carribean blue sea….we just can’t imagine going anywhere else yet.
Here are a few pictures from that trip to bring a little sunshine to you on this first snowy day!
All of these pics were taken at the ancient ruins Tulum. They are simply spectacular. I felt like I was encompassed in history. Something magical, beautiful and forever.

Growing up I sang this song in church, at Girl Guides and around the bonfire at Cave Springs summer camp. Although, I don’t recall our version having anything about a giant squid in it. I loved it then and I adore it now.
“Boom dee adda, boom dee adda………”
A memory of my Mom………..

Red, gold and vibrant orange leaves littered the sidewalk yesterday evening as Todd, Talullah and I walked. I love the smell of fall and the crunching sound those leaves made as we shuffled through them. I smiled as I was flooded with a great memory from my childhood. Once, while driving in the country with my mom on one of her “fall colours” tours, she spotted a giant heap of leaves and pulled the car off the road. We all hopped out and had a ball jumping in the pile, burying each other, laughing and carrying on. That must be why that fall smell is so yummy to me. It brings me right back to that moment….
I had an amazingly fun Mom. She loved to laugh. To play. To say and do unexpected things that we may have thought strange or weird at the moment…but remember with such love and hilarity. One of lifes surreal surprises is to bring back a memory like that and just floor you. Make you stop and feel things you had almost forgotten. Make you miss someone as sharply in this moment as you did the second they died.
Seasons change……. life goes on……. things repeat……and I remember……………
Now this is how the Internet comes in handy:

Over the last few years I have drifted away from SNL thinking it’s glory days were over. This weekend the cast and guests proved me wrong again. I think most of us are fans of Tina Fey’s portrayal of Sarah Palin aka…”Caribou Barbie.” (Tee Hee!) This weekend the host of SNL was Anne Hathaway who is a fantastic actress. I loved her in “The Devil Wears Prada.” She’s awesome. She was awesomer (is that a word?) in this Mary Poppins skit Saturday night.
