Hello all!
I gotta tell ya….I love reading blogs…but have never been an blogger before. This is as new to me- the writer as it is to you- the reader. Surprising, since I am usually not at a loss for strange things floating through my head and coming out of my mouth. If you are a regular listener of the KIX Chicks in the am..you are nodding your head in agreement right now. Tee Hee.
So….I hereby promise you with this premiere post that some blog posts will be strange, there will be much emotion, lots of laughter and the odd thing I found googling about that I simply cannot let pass by. It’s gonna be fun!
Blog. What an odd word. What fun to say! What does it mean? Who made it up? As I asked myself these questions..I got sidetracked (shocking, I know) and started thinking of other words that simply satisfy some part of me as they roll of the tounge.
Here are a few of my favs…..
*loofa
*bongo
*bamboozle
(At this point I know you have joined the word party and are saying them aloud as you read…..am I right? If not…..you’re missing the point….shout ‘em loud and proud baby…even if you are alone or it may convince the rest of your family you have lost your ever lovin’ mind.)
* lollygag (one of my mother’s fav’s….she had more, but I’m not sure they are appropriate in this forum)
*plethora
*onomatopoeio (a word that represents a sound..like “biff, bam, boom” …remember Batman?
*snuffaluffagus (not sure if that’s actually in the dictionary…but whateves….still fun.)
*sassafrass
*rutabega (is that the same thing as a turnip?)
And finally…..this one has brought many a belly laugh to my family..more on that in a minute…
*Passamaquoddy (PAS-A-MA-QUAD-Y)
Passamaquoddy is the name of a Native American tribe from Maine. My sister and brother in law (Kelly and Ron) live in Maine where my bro-in- law is a jail guard. I don’t know what him being a jail guard has do with anything..I just think it’s neat.
Anyhooooooo…recently, when we were home to New Brunswick Ron and Kelly mentioned the word Passamaquoddy and I found it to be lyrically delightful. Problem being, I kept trying to say it and always got it wrong…..much to my family’s delight. Quadamapassy, passyma-Iforget, Podamaquady were all of few of the ways I messed it up. After I mastered it…I couldn’t stop.
Say it with me now…PASS A MA QUADY.
See….you’re smiling aren’t ya?
