A few of my favourite things!
February 6th, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
Here I sit chatting to you and it’s already the day after Superbowl 46..with the outcome I amd my family were hoping for..We were ready with lots of great food and Jeffrey and I painted big signs and Tshirts and our faces in honour of the New York Giants…21-17 winners over Tom Brady and the Pats. It sure was a nial-biter right down to the last five seconds of the 4th quarter, when Brady attempted to lift the ball half way down field to the goal posts for an attempted touchdown. It was not to be.
What did you think of Madonna? That is the burning question this morning.
I find she should really try to sing live and not lyp sync. Although it is a tough venue with screaming fans and so much going on. Let alone, technical issues that would cripple the performance if a microphone or battery pack failed.
At 53 she still has her fans. She does great work abroard. But she is so arrogant.
When quiestioned on ticket prices to her shows just last week, she says, ‘They can save their money and pay what I ask, I’m worth it!’ WTH! Seriously, they need to go with a huge name in our country music genre to bring gals like her back down to Earth.
Put Rascal Flatts up there with fantastic vocals and upbeat new stuff.
Had a fantastic time playing the classics up at the Legion on Great Northern Road with fellow Great Northern Opry inductees Mike Case, Rob Wagner, Jack Bringleson and Kelly Jackson.
The crowd was dancing right frmo the beginning and barely ever sat down. It was awesome to jam with the boys and you can do it all over again this Saturday night at 8 with Roy Brockelbank and company!
Call Dave Patterson for tickets to the upcoming show and dance at the Riuniti Hall later this month at 705-257-9650..
Canada’s Got Talent is set to kick off in early March. Find out what’s up at the website at www.canadasgottalent.com and enjoy the show!

Monday! Ya likin’ it?
January 30th, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
How was your weekend? Pretty mild…more snow received…more snow shovelled….Really starting to build now eh friends?
We can handle it….I wonder how long til green grass shows up again under the picnic table?
SNOWARAMA is coming up and I will be joined in studio by Paul Kwolek..the expert on the event happening February 11th. It will be a great time and let’s hope all this new snow is still around. We have a lot of mild days on the way, but it shouldn’t really affect the base.
Johnny Reid…Carolyn Dawn Johnson…now Gord Bamford..all in the Soo in the next little while. Get to www.qcountry.ca and fetch your chance at tickets in Q draws. They close today and we’ll announce the winners on the morning show in the morning. It is going to be a musical couple of months.
Kris Kristopherson is now 75 and really appreciates Bob Dylan’s music over the years and even more so now..That story in it’s entirety this Sunday on the Great Country Oldies Show at 9am.
Heading out to enjoy the sunshine…maybe clean a car or two..
Have a nice Monday!

I’m ‘mum’ about a big announcement this afternoon with Gary!
January 27th, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
I have to remain’ mum ‘on the announcement Gary will make this afternoon after 2 on his drive home show..
but I know a secret! SHH!! I will not remove the duct tape till later on. Tune in to find out what all the fuss is about.
But with my ‘dad’ cap on all the time I was taken aback when Jeffrey was escourted from the school to my car with his teacher. He had banged hard into the goal posts while trying to perform a good deed putting the nets away after gym. Man he did it good this time. He is better today , but he had one hell of a goose egg on his frontal lobe!
Brother! or I should say, ‘Son, you take after your fatha!’
I will purchase him an indoor helmet when I get mine.

Garth Brooks won the case against an Oklahoma hospital that renegged on their promise to build a wing in holour of his late mom Coleen..The court ruled he was entitled to his 500 grand back and the hospital was ordered to pay an additional 500 grand to Garth in punitives damages.
Good day to wash the Mcneice ranch fleet of fine automobiles…and you should too. Cloud and mild weather gives us a chance to rid the fine vehicles of all that road salt and sand we’ve accumulated like all the snow this past week.
I hate when I dress up for a remote boradcast or a fine dinner out with Lyd and brush up against the side of the car with my newly dry-cleaned outerwear! ARGG! And that shit does not come off..It smears rather nicely though, I have found.
How long till summer? Can’t wait to get rid of all that crap on the inside panels of the new 2012! Oh, and the old 2010!
Enter for the chance at Johnny Reid and Carolyn Dawn Johnson tickets. at www.qcountry.ca and the random draw happens on Tuesday, the final day of January at 815 on my show.
It’s a Q draw..and membership to our fine CLUB Q is free! Join today friends.
I listened to all 20 last chance YOUTUBE auditions and some of the folks blew me away. WOW!!!! Check it out and vote today and everyday at www.canadasgottalent.com Love it! Good luck in March on CITYTV.. In my humble opinion, you’re all fantastic!
Have a great day .
I’m off to the Ranch to try to salvage what is left of our companion snowman Jeffrey junior and I called WILSON! I think he is suffering from a vitamin D and Vitamin B12 defficiency! Maybe I can place a tablet in his left hand next to the Lakeport beer.. Or better yet, I can use VIAGRA since it helps the stems of plants grow, among other uses !
Cheers!
Four walls to see me…four walls, closing in on me!
January 23rd, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
My title for this edition of the McNeice Blog is from Jim Reeves classic tune.’.Four walls.’.I wasn’t at all suggesting that the radio station walls were closing on me…
How was your weekend folks??
Looks like rain is with us today and it’s crazy weather eh?
Just imagine when this freezes up tonight into tomorrow, there’s going to be Hell to pay! Maybe not that extreme..I was just embelishing as I tend to do just to make the point.
Remember back in the day when the schoolyard was a water park?
I remember distinctly falling several times on my ass and getting soaked while the bullies watched and laughed.
Don’t dare laugh when you wish them to fall and they do. You’d then get your wet ass kicked for good measure.
It was fun to try to cross Lake Public School and remain dry.
God, did the back cloak rooms reek with soaked boots, dripping wet gloves and rotting socks. Then to make it even worse, kids would stick their dripping socks on the radiators to permiate already nasty air.Ahh, the good ol’ days.
I sure don’t remember ever having ‘snow’ days back in the 70′s due to rain, like our friends in Soo Michigan. How do they get in their school year?
I have to fix up and tend to ‘Wilson, Jeffrey’s snow creation on the front lawn, as he is becoming a mush ball.
We named him Wilson as his head is a WILSON soccer ball like Tom Hanks best companion in CAST-AWAY!.. I collected a few logs of wood for a pretend raft and stuck WILSON the Snowman full of solar lights..just in case there was a passing vehicle to the rescue.
If I re-build, they will come!
Hey go to Canada’s Got Talent website at www.canadasgottalent.com and vote for the final 20 videos at YOUTUBE…check em out! There are some great contestants there. The show will air on CITYTV in March.
Also, Canada’s version of The Bachelor will air on CITYTV as well…We can look forward to that.
I sat in amazement this morning when I fired up the audio clip of Prez Barack Obama in a campaign stop where the Rev Al Green had been before him and Barack began singing to the crowd..’I….I’m so in love with you…” His pitch was remarkable.. his vibrato was incredible…He should challenge Knute the republican to a ‘sing’ off’ on The Voice’ coming back to tv for season two next month.. Make it so the crowd could not see who’s singing either and the audience and judges would be shocked to see.. ‘Here come the Prez!!!!!
Well I am srtapping on my rain gear for the trek out to the radio station’ mush-lands’…There is still al lot of rain coming down my friends and one can bet that tomorrow will be a different kind of day during my show at 530-9.
The temperature will fall to -6 over night and remain there in the morning. So I expect the intersections at Great Northern and Northern Rds and at Pine and Great Northern and pretty much all the main intersections to be ugly and frozen.
Thankfully I shovelled off a small roof and the shed roof at the McNeice Ranch yesterday anticipating a big rain and then some freezing temps to follow.
Stay dry…and for God sakes, don’t put the wet socks on the register at home.. Geez!! The whole place will stink like rotten Dorito’s!
Jim Cuddy performs tonight at the KCTC..Tickets at the door.
SO you think it’s cold in the SOO!!! Read and see what the temp in Calgary was this am!
January 18th, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
It’s -11 as I type this radio blog..windchill makes it feel like -22..in Calgary this am? It’s minus 37…no windchill factored in..WOW! God bless you heartly westerners….
Had fun on the show today..thanks for your input on the Q AM POLL question.. I asked what you prefer…A snowy Winter with more ? less? none?? a sandy beach with the majority of you saying.. less is more than enuff thank you very much, while 24 percent of you would rather be basking on a warm beach sipping a cool fancy drink.! Amen to that folks!
I would be giving you more today but my toes are cramping from the cold in the studio..
Sadly Blake Shelton lost his dad Dick after a year-long decline in his health. He has postponed 4 concert dates..check the Fan page for dates and the story..
No big snow fall overnight..there cold be some more in the forecast, as our friends to the east in Sudbury were dumped on in the last 24 hours..
Have a great day and I’ll wear the woolies so I can be more long-winded on the Thursday morning blog..
KTHANXBYE!
Snow snow and more on the way!
January 17th, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
Hope you like the snow…cause it’s on the way later this afternoon..starting accumulations expected near 10cms. Then
more is coming tomorrow..another 10cms of the white stuff may come over the next 24 hours.
Keith Urban will be singing to raise money for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on April 10th.
That’s the new date for his ‘All for the Hall’ fundraiser. It was supposed to have been today , but because of Urban’s throat surgery that date was ditched. Now he and Hall of Fame stalwart, Vince Gill have reset it for Tuesday April 10th.
Performers for the big event inclue, Lady A, Alabama, Allison Krauss and Union Station, Band Perry, Diamond Rio, Rascal Flatts and Thompson Square. Guess what? You can get tickets..going on sale January 27th.
Taylor Swift fans..!!! Attention!!! Her next album will be about an ‘absolute crash n burn heartbreak’ she had. She’s not naming names..but she did go out with Jake Gyllenhaal for a few months in 2010. Swift has learned from the heartache and now follows a list of ‘ red flags’ if a relationship won’t work. Here’s an example..guys, before you dive in to date her..
If a guy falls in love with me based on my Wikipedia page or is threatened that she needs security, maybe puts her down or is obsessed with privacy, they’re not for her. Got that?
Swift is on the cover of the February issue of VOGUE which is on sale January 24th.
Also more entertaining news about Kid Rock…Kid lit up a big cigar and smoked in a non-smoking venue ouitside of Detroit. A guy complained and Kid apologized, but the gentleman that was floored by the incident, has stated to authorities he will be filing an official complaint with the health department. He has asthma and was truly offended by Kid Rock’s behavior. Michigan law prohibits smoking at workplaces including bars and restaurants.
Hey Canada’s Got Talent fans!! — the last chance auditions are now closed. Thanks to everyone whom auditioned.
Starting on the 23rd, it’s your turn to play judge when CGT reveals the top 20 acts at www.canadasgottalent.com
Be sure to come back and vote for your favourite. Good luck…
Also Ronnie Dunn rocks out with a new single ‘Let the cowboy rock’ It’s available today. The video shows a cowboy who could use a little lovin’..
He goes into a cowboy bar, has some fun and by the end of the video he staggers out with help from two other patrons and gets back on his horse. Watch for it..
Have a super day and careful if we get the snow expected folks!
.
He aint just a friend..he’s my brother!Mike Case has talent!
January 11th, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
Your time is running out to upload a video showing off your incredible talent for the upcoming Canada’s Got Talent’ show coming to CITY TV in March..
Log on to www.canadasgottalent.com and submit by the 15th.. Hurry , you know you want to? Just do it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain folks!
Happy birthday to a really awesome friend Susie Beach today!!! We love you..you are so kind, genuine and thoughtful. It’s wonderful to have you Darren and the kids in our lives..!
Big snow a possibility for our area beginning Thursday morning and continuing thru Friday afternoon. There is going to be a drastic temperature change with a high today of plus 2, and only a high of -10 for Friday! 10-15 cms of heavy wet snow is possible.
Our young junnior Jeffrey is sprouting on a near daily basis..Growing in and out of clothes faster than I get get in and out of my favorite beer store, it seems. Luckily the skates squeeked on and they may not ever come off..but he’s good for a few Wednesdays anyway.. And ripping pants more quickly than Lyd adn I can buy em. Can you say patches?
My intention to fire off a video of my talented friend Mike Case is still..an intented course of action..He is in the middle of another chemotherapy treatment..and quite frankly, I’ve lost count..it’s somewhere in the mid-40′s I think.
Crazy how music sustains this bright individual. He is making liars out of skeptics and the nay-sayers who had grim predictions for my best friend Mike and his prognosis. I have witnessed how a man’s faith in God and belief that music is life and life is music can propel one to defeat the oddsmakers. It’s truly a remarkable sight when the mike turns on and the PA is fired up and guitar strapped on about his shoulders.. With pick in hand he is about to get reay for The Mule Skinner Blues…as only he can perform this country classic, which you may or may not know was a number #1 hit for Miss Dolly Parton in 1970..It made it to number three on the chart and earned Dolly a Grammy that year.
I posted my Mike version if you scroll down a day or so on our Facebook Fan Page..and Dolly’s as well.
Away he goes…”Goood mooooooooornin!!!..You know a rare performance is about to happen…when Mike finishes the first line..he looks over at me with the ‘Jim Carrey face”…It matters not, that I’ve heard him do this song 100′s of times…every time is unique…there are different circumstances before and after the song…but the really wonderful fact is.. I get to sit next to Mike , yet again and perform with him on stage.
Each trip to the microphone with my friend is cherished and unforgettable. These are the memories that I take mental pictures of..Priceless..
Can he beat this horrible form of Cancer…Ask Mike, he says,’ Jeffy, most definitely!’
I am looking forward to performing with Mike at the next gig…He always looks forward..never back..he teaches music still, it’s what keeps him going..treatment after treatment and CT scan after scan..
He motivates other patients going through this effin’ disease process.
Friends have gotten cancer way after him and he has been at their side when ‘ they go to be with the Lord’, as he says time and time again.
Watch , friends for an uploaded original Mike Case tune by Saturday..when I post it..go and ‘LIKE it at Facebook and Youtube.. Let’s get this man national exposure with his story of courage, hope and inspiration.
You know, Canada’s Got Talent as we will witness in March on CITY TV…but ya kinow what eh? We have Mike Case
I love him like the brother I never had.
Can you tell?
If there’s one thing I have overlooked in my life, it’s how to stop and semll the flowers..live every day like it’s your last..
Mike Case has taught me to re-think values…enjoy the tunes..and love life…every day!
Don’t sweat the small stuff!!!!
Did you know?
January 10th, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
Did you know that according to my research this morning…nearly 50 percent of people would walk tomorrow from their current nicely paid gig to take less pay if they would be more happy?? That’s the stats….
Speaking of Q Polls..thanks for answering about VACAY in the Winter….nearly 50 percent of you said you’d be waiting til the summer for vacation days…18 percent were awaiting the days til the beach was NOW and more than 25 percent of you polled said ‘ I love the winter’! Good for you..More polling tomorrow on the show.
Get hooked up to a video with your last chance to audition for Canada’s Got Talent at www.canadasgottalent.com. and submit your 2 minute video by the 15th! It has to be no more than 2 minutes or you’re automatically disqualified and something else if you’re singin’..you must pick from the tunes available at the website or do an original! Good luck.
Stay slushy free out there today as the temp hits Zero today and tomorrow..then by Friday we’re back into Winter.

Mr Bean is 57,..our Mr Beaner..9!
January 6th, 2012 by jeff.mcneice
Well it seems like yesterday Beaner was brought into this world , with great force I might add. Not only with the strength of mommy, but the patience of Dr Pat Zair and all the staff at the hospital. Jeffrey just did NOT feel like making a worldly appearance..after delay..forceps and vaccuum..the little miracle guy was here.. Lyd and I had a 5 to 10 percent chance of conceiving..Then guess what? Here it is 9 years later.
Jeffrey chats about movies..big time..loves ‘em.. Loves finding out what the real names of the actors in his favorite flicks are…An actor in the future? I would say it’s a good possibility. He is our residential ‘drama queen’… Just this morning he says, “Dad I can’t wait till I’m 11…then I can watch Tom Hanks drag that dead body on to the beach and bury his friend!’
I said you skipped 10.. What about enjoying being 9!’ He says, Dad I am 9′. Now my voice is cracking and I sound like John Hurt. WTH!
He knows all the local municpal and provincial candidates that ran in the last election. He googles them and laughs at their pics ..yes I mean you Jib Turner..Luke MacMichael..and not Celia Ross.. Jeff calls her ‘Cincelia Ross… Then I burst into a funky warped Simon and Garfunkel classic..’Cin-ceeeeee-lia..you’re breakin’ my heart..you’re shakin the voter’s box, daily!’
Gilligan, which he played at Lynn and Keith’s wedding in Perth on a hot July weekend, when I met Gary Creighton’s mom at a freekin’ chocolate factory…yes I said a chocolate factory”What a sweet gig, I said , when I met her.
We had a blast as Mr and Mrs Howell..
Jr. took his task as ring bearer very seriously. He had on the Gilligan hat and pants and we got him a red shirt and he had the boat shoes.. Lynn asked him to be ring-bearer and he carried the rings onto the front yard at the Birchcroft Estates with much pride.
He can tell you that the Skipper is Alan Hale, and Gilligan, Bob Denver died in real life as did Jim Bacus..
He knows Ginger is Tina Louse and that she did not do the movies of Gilligan.. He knows the professer is Russel Johnson and he is still alive. He is nearly 90 Jeffrey informs me, to which I respond by saying, “Buddy are you sure?’ then Sarah and I google him and sure enough there he is…and he’s still with us.
Jeffrey sleeps rarely throught the night, much like his dad and has a very vivid imagination.
He once said that his teacher’s son was going to be in the WWE and was 6 foot 7 inches tall…a huge character of a guy.. When I approached his teacher at a school function she laughed and called Jeffrey out on this…he went and hid in the boy’s bathroom where some idiot was spookin the lil kids with vulgar talk…this did not bode well for the flaring imagination of junior Jeff.
Playing video games like Mario Cart is a passion and he beats his sitter Ryly nearly everyday and I guess that’s why Ry isn’t around the Mcneice Ranch anymore. (just kiddin)
Anyway, enough bragging..but I will continue to put all my kids on pedestals..because besides Lyd, the four kids are the ones that keep me centered and grounded ( Although I can fall on the ground quite well on my own thankyou!)
I love the role of father..it makes me feel like I can accomplish anything..confront anyone…I feel like their superhero.. and hey, if i need that bag of milk or feel the urge to slide down Finn Hill or walk the Fort Creek trail..someone of them are a portion of the tropp will be there to pick ol’ dad up and let Humpty Dumpty rise again to the top of the WIPEOUT wall..
On that note…Have a great weekend and BIG BALLS…
On a very serious note this hour my thoughts and prayers are with my sister Linda and Brother n Law Jack and nieces Jess and Cath and nephew Jason.
We up here in the North are thinking of you all..
Jeff
