What a year it’s been! Happy birthday, Ava!

Why, it’s in her HAIR!!! Seems like there’s more than just cheese in there too…looks a little crusty!

Ah, the joys of feeding yourself! This is pretty tame in comparaison to some other stories I’ve heard of where there was jam up the nose or soup over the head. Have a kid-mess story to share? Please do so!

Where has the time gone? This time last year Erin was sooo pregnant and we were sooo excited to meet our little bundle of joy. Now, a year later, Ava is almost one and I can tell you that being a dad has been the most rewarding experience of my life. That all-encompassing love I feel for our little girl is overwhelming at times that I sometimes have to catch myself before I start squirting out tears of joy. Man, fatherhood has made me soft! Don’t tell anyone…seriously.

Anyhow, I hope my constant chatter about Ava hasn’t annoyed too many people. And thanks to everyone who’s offered advice over the past year. Both good and…uh…interesting. I’m sure I’ll be asking for plenty more over the course of this year.  Like: “Are you sure we can’t micro-chip our childern like we do our dogs?”

I’m sure all parents have felt like this at some point in their lives…

I’m sure my parents would have traded me in for a dishwasher on more than a few occasions!

My dad was always fond of saying “I brought you into this world…I can take you out!”. I plan to steal that when Ava misbehaves )

She was not impressed. No fault of Santa at Hazeldean Mall though…he was great. Maybe it was because the guy holding her wasn’t the chubby, hairy guy she’s used to!
