Strange days in the high school world.
Seems that teams can forfeit games whenever they feel like it, and some leagues don’t even have any sanctions. Then, there’s also the blow-out scores - my favorite beef in the school game - where learning is supposed to be part of the development process.
And how can we forget the on-going fall-out from the embarrassment at Chaminade College when a few football players - with others on the team well aware of what was happening - choosing to experiment with putting feces in a microwave oven. Yes, sadly, worth repeating.
To change pace, this Sunday on the HIGH SCHOOL SHOW at 9:30am, we’re going to do something never done since this program started 17 years ago.
We’re going to talk with Elvis. Yes, Elvis.
I know, “you’re all shook up”. Here’s the deal, you’re welcome to wear your “blue suede shoes” and “shake, rattle and roll”, some of the famous songs of the legendary King of Rock, but - if you do start singing - make sure it’s not in a public place.
Actually, it’s Elvis Thomas - the former National team and professional soccer player who’ll be on the show to talk about coaching at the school he once attended. We have a great story on volleyball - an undefeated team that doesn’t even have a home gym. And, what’s it like scoring five touchdowns in a game.
Sunday at 9:30am on THE FAN 590.
