New Season of University and High School Sports Starts This Sunday
Thursday, August 27th, 2009
That chill in the air, and the announcements “Let’s Go To The Ex” is a reminder to many that school is just around the corner. And, that means time to talk high school and university sports.
Yes, it’s me - David Grossman. Ready to go.
Starting this Sunday, August 30th at 9:00am until 10:00am, we’ll kick off a new season (No. 17 I believe). Starting with the UNIVERSITY SHOW, in-studio guests are the Athletic Directors from Ryerson (Ivan Joseph), Toronto (Liz Hoffman) and York (Jennifer Myers).
Topics? Well, you’ll have to tune in - but here are a few: is there enough money to continue to offer a bonafide university sports program at three of the largest post-secondary schools in the country or should it all be fitness and intramural, athletic scholarship - are they working and keeping Canadians in Canada. There’s more, believe me.
Then, at 9:30am, the HIGH SCHOOL SHOW. The President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (Ken Coran) will share his views on the value of sports in high schools, should coaches be paid and his thoughts on coaching certification for teachers. School trustees Josh Matlow (Toronto) and Chris Braney (Pickering) will chat about everything from keeping swimming pools open to increaing participation in sports for students. And, yes, there’s more.
Sunday morning at 9:00 on Toronto’s Sports Radio, THE FAN 590 or tune in at www.fan590.com
