Final Show of the Season This Sunday
Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009
The ups and downs. The highlights and the issues. The winners and, well, not the losers but some of the ridiculous decisions made.
What am I getting at?
Well, it’s that time of the year. Our final show of the school year is set for this Sunday at 9:00am. Tough putting together a year-ender on a one-hour show so we’ll just have to be creative.
We have some great guests - a high school principal whose teams won two Ontario championships in the same sport. Also, a provincial government Minister. Yup. And, heck, politics and sports are fun, so we have an individual joining us who says it the way he sees it. Some coaches are on too, including one who was suspended from coaching for a year for - using two ineligible players in a U.S. tournament.
I know you want names, but not this time.
The HIGH SCHOOL SHOW, Sunday morning at 9:00.
Championship athletes tell their story
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009
Have to admit that we received lots of great e-mails and calls from listeners to the show last week - one with students talking about their experiences in sport and being chosen “athlete of the year”.
So, we’re giving you more this Sunday - but with a slight adjustment.
This Sunday, yes it’s Father’s Day Sunday, we will speak with students who participated on championship teams this year. What was it like to experience the gold medal season? The big win and all the celebrations - for many, in their graduating year.
Should be interesting with athletes from basketball, soccer, football, hockey, track and field and baseball.
And we might also get a few words about - dad.

Meet the athletes
Saturday, June 13th, 2009
I have heard people often wonder what it takes to be an athlete of the year at a high school.
Well, there are stories about the athletes with the cloest ties to the decision makers.
In some cases, the athletes who are graduating get the nod over others - even a junior who has had a better year. Some schools don’t even recognize the athlete who has competed in multiple sports. Then again, some do just that.
So, let’s find out some of the great high school students who are, well, “athletes of the year”. We have six of them - three girls and three guys - lined up to talk with us on the HIGH SCHOOL SHOW set for Sunday starting at 9:00am.
Who are they?
Well, how can I keep a surprise if I tell you?
I can assure ytou, they’re great athletes. Some off to Canadian universities, others going to the United States. Some returning to finish off their high school education and, yup, get another shot at being - an “athlete of the year”.
