The Ministry of Natural Resources is continuing to look at potential changes to fishing regulations to help in the recovery of Lake Nipissing’s depleted walleye population.
But a ministry spokeswoman confirmed Friday there are no plans to close the fishery or make any changes to season openings or durations, including the upcoming winter season.
In July, the MNR created the Lake Nipissing Project Walleye Advisory Committee, consisting of local anglers, Nipissing First Nation and other stakeholders, to develop recommendations to help address the problem
Nugget Article
I do not fish. Not to say I won’t in the future, but I have spoke to enough people who do, and know their frustration over preferential rules or lack thereof for certain individuals. You want a recommendation? chew on this:
The rules & regulations are the rules & regulations and apply to EVERYONE across the board regardless of who you are, where you live or who you’re affiliated with…no special treatment for any person or persons, group or groups…PERIOD!!!

Congratulations City of North Bay. You should be very proud. Once again, you’ve managed to stick it to your hard working, tax paying citizens.

I am a Soccer Official, and refereed at the North Bay Youth Soccer Year end Championship tournament held at Veterans, the ONR and Amelia Fields as well as refereeing at the Omischl Complex for the U11/U12 Selects Tournament this past weekend. I drove to Veterans from Omischl after a 9am game for a 10:45 am game and there was not a parking spot to be found. I parked behind a couple vehicles and did not notice the “No Parking” sign 10-15 ft. up on a pole.

City of North Bay, you know full well your parking at the various athletic facilities is woefully inadequate, and you exploited this…on a Sunday no less. Classy!

I’m curious as to how many times you made your way back there throughout the day to issue tickets knowing the easy money would be there for you to take advantage of like corpse eating vultures.

On a day when families and friends are coming together in organized recreational sport, spending quality time together, learning valuable life lessons through sport, you manage to swoop in and taint the experience.

As I returned to my vehicle following the game, to head over to the Omischl to ref another game I find a $30 parking ticket on my window. I look around…I was not the only one.

Was I wrong to park there? I’ll admit it, I was. Did I have any other options? Not that I saw within reasonable walking distance, and not that anyone from the City pointed…oh wait, never mind. There’s never anyone around from the City when you need them at the facilities to provide adequate services.

Where’s your common sense and where’s your soul City of North Bay. The decent thing to do would have been to issue warnings and have a little compassion and understanding given the event, but as proceedings in other recent matters have dictated (Omischl user fee debacle), you grossly lack that.

Once again I say Congratulations City of North Bay…you really stunk it up again and left a sour taste in my mouth, and I’m a new citizen of roughly 18 months. I can only imagine what lifelong residents have been subjected too after witnessing this despicable fiasco!

Disgruntled Official

Greg

North Bay city council must tell Ontario Lottery and Gaming before Oct. 1 whether the community is interested in a gaming facility in the central part of the city with up to 300 slot machines and the potential for table games.
I say: ABSOLUTELY NOT…not in the Central part of the City…bad idea, given the current state of some areas…it needs to be in an area that you can get to, but have to want to get to, not just stumble to and that buses will run to with a pickup area downtown perhaps near a highway off ramp to make it accessible for those on the outskirts.
