Nikola Tesla was revolutionary in the world of electricity. He pioneered alternating current, wireless energy transfer (ever see that movie The Prestige?) and was the true inventor of the radio, although credit went to Guglielmo Marconi until 1943.

Tesla has been referred to as the man who “shed light over the face of Earth”, and now the car company bearing his name is about to do something similar to the automotive industry. I recently made a post about their high performance sports model, the Tesla Roadster. Silent running, no gears and incredible specs for a fully electric car. Well now Tesla Motors have received a $465 million grant to develop the Model S, an affordable family sedan. It’ll sell for $50,000 and be available in 2011.
