Hey Got Gamers!
Like we discussed in our latest episode, 2 years ago the Rhode Island Board of Economic Development approved a $75-million guaranteed loan for former Major Leaguer Curt Schilling, and his fledgling game development company: 38 Studios. This loan was crafted in order to allow 2 specific things to happen. The 1st was to allow Curt Schilling to realize his dream of AAA game development studio that would create a fantasy based cross-media franchise. The 2nd was to bring 450 jobs to the state of Rhode Island within the last couple of years.
However, all of this was old news until last week when 38 Studios defaulted on a $1.125 million payment towards their original loan, and the gaming industry suddenly turned their collective vision on Schilling and his team. 38 Studios has since paid the $1.125 million they missed, but in an effort to prove their continued worth the studio has released a video called Project Copernicus. The video will give you a look at a upcoming MMO based on the same world that Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning is set in.
