Hey Got Gamers,

I’m sorry if anyone missed this week’s episode of Got Game when it aired on the radio station last Saturday. We tried to get the word out on the Got Game twitter account, but there was a last moment change we ended up going to air on Saturday.

On the bright side, we podcast every episode of Got Game, and this weekend’s episode is already up. As always, you can find the post-broadcast podcast of our November 26th 2011 show in the audio file below this paragraph.

Hey Got Gamers,

We promised to post some details regarding a cool gaming-centric event happening in downtown Toronto next weekend called GamerCamp.

GamerCamp will be happening this November 25-27 at George Brown College, CSI Annex, the Toronto Underground Theater, and other locations around downtown Toronto. For $33.90 a day, or $67.80 for the whole weekend, the guys behind the camp promise 40 hours of game related stuff to do. In this week’s post-broadcast podcast, co-founder Mark Rabo joined us to discuss their plans for:

  • 30 panels that will be discussing game related topics
  • The Gamercamp Iron Chef Gamejam
  • The Urban Roadtrip
  • The 8-bit Cereal Breakfast

|
We discussed as much as we had time for, but didn’t even get a chance to talk about MakerU or the 1 Up Film Event. MakerU will be an afternoon of unstructured play where attendees can learn to make games, or play indie games. The Sunday Film 1UP event will be a screening of The FP; a story revenge and redemption in a world where gangs settle their scores with the dance-pad game ‘Beat -Beat Revelations’.

GamerCamp did take up some of our time, but this week on Got Game we also discussed:

IN OUR REVIEW SEGMENT WE LOOK AT ASSASSIN’S CREED: REVELATIONS…

…AND THE WACKY SAINTS ROW THE THIRD

If you’re a fan of high performance motorsports, you’ve probably heard by now that Tony Stewart was recently crowned the 2011 NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion. In reality, he tied Carl Edwards for overall points, but the tie breaker was decided by the number of races each driver won. Stewart won more races than Edwards, so he was crowned the champ.

However, this is Got Game, so this blog post has to have some sort of gaming tie-in right? Well that race convinced me to go back and watch another awesome race on youtube. This time it was the climatic final race from the movie Days of Thunder.

What does that have to do with gaming? Well some Hungarian gamers decided to take all the racing scenes out of the movie and replace them with identical shots of virtual stock cars, racing around a virtual Daytona International Speedway, by using NASCAR Racing 2003.

I always thought this looked cool, so I decided to share it via this blog.

However, just a heads up, the guys and girls who made these videos started off the whole thing by remaking the movie’s title sequence with NASCAR Racing 2003 as well. Therefore, if you want to skip right to the race, start at the 3 minute mark of the first youtube clip.

Here’s The First Youtube Clip.

Hey Got Gamers,

This week you’re going to hear some different intro music for each of our show segments. We’re playing music from the Greatest Video Game Music CD that the London Philharmonic Orchestra sent us. We also talked about the crazy cool cover art, which as promised, I have posted it below this sentence.

Hey Got Gamers,

About 2 years ago you may have seen this game trailer floating around Youtube.

Well believe it or not, the most frequent question we get is, “what’s going on with mechwarrior?”

About once every 2 or so months (since we started the show in 2009) someone will ask us that, so now that I have details I partnered with Rob Keyes from Gamerant.com to go over them.

Download You can find those details in this Mechwarrior focused Podcast.
