Hey Got Gamers,

I’m sorry if anyone tuned into the station at 10 am last Saturday and missed the show. We’ve been moved out of that time slot. At this point, I can not comment on if the move is permanent or not, but I can tell you that NEXT WEEK’S SHOW will also air at 5 pm on Saturday.

However, if you missed the show last Saturday, hopefully this podcast edition of our January 29th show will be worth the wait. As always it’s in the audio file below this sentence.

The NGP says, “HELLO WORLD!”

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

When North America went to sleep last night, I am sure that many gamers expected the new day to bring news of Sony’s rumored PSP2. Not wanting to disappoint, Sony held an event in Tokyo last night were a new PlayStation Portable gaming system was announced. Fast forward to now and various websites, including Sony’s own Playstation.com, are buzzing with the news of the Sony PlayStation NGP (aka – the Next Generation Portable Entertainment System).

Very few hard facts regarding the NGP are known at this time. We do know the name NGP is just a transitory title that will be replaced by a permanent name at a later point. We know that some major players in the gaming industry are backing this new device; at this point, games from the Little Big Planet, Killzone, Call of Duty, Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid franchises are believed to be in development for the NGP. We also know the consumers in Japan are expected to have their hands on the NGP by the end of this year.

Personally, the most interesting news I heard was regarding the PlayStation Suite. The PlayStation Suite is an iTunes like App store that Sony is working on. When fully operational, every App in the PlayStation Suite should seamlessly work on both the numerous android phones and the brand new NGP.

Also, for those of you know love technology, we have the device’s specs.

For those of you who like pretty things, here are some more images of what the NGP will look like.

The Got Game Show Blog for January 22nd, 2011.

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

Hey Got Gamers,

Sorry about the delay with this week’s show blog, but people do say that good things come to those who wait. If that’s true, then Duke Nukem Forever is going to be amazing! However, in the meantime, we would like to present you with something else that is good; we call it the Got Game podcast for our January 22nd, 2011 show!

PLUS WE REVIEW Light Big Planet 2

Mass Effect 2 (PS3 Version)

and DC Universe Online

It was last E3 where Nintendo stole the show when our collective jaws dropped as they announced they were making a hand held gaming system, which would allow you to play games in 3D, WITHOUT the use of glasses.  Yes, the 3DS was on its way, but we didn’t know when it was coming or how much it would cost…….until now.

The 3DS will hit Canadian store shelves on March 27th for a suggested retail price of $249.99.  The announcement was made yesterday when Nintendo held a news conference in New York, providing full details of their latest innovation.

While gamers are excited and very eager to get their hands on the latest technological innovation, much of the talk in the online world over the past few months has been, how much would it cost and would gamers be willing to pay that price? At $249.99 I feel confident in saying come March 27th, The 3DS will be flying off store shelves.

I think Nintendo has nailed it with this price point.  It sticks true to their history of keeping their products at a price their fans can afford.  Yes, $250 (sorry Nintendo, I added the one cent to make life a little simpler) is a lot of money, but considering it’s a revolutionary piece of technology that has never been seen before, and could change the face of gaming as we know it, I don’t think it’s unreasonable.

Nintendo 3DS

There will be a few games at launch time including: Pilot Wings, Nintendogs + Cats, and Steel Diver.  There are also plans for a new “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”, “Kid Icarus” “Mario Kart”, “Animal Crossings” and “Paper Mario”, but no word on release dates for those games.

In the video game world, The Nintendo 3DS is probably the most anticipated product since the XBOX 360/PS3 came out a few years ago.  I could even argue it’s more anticipated.  Even though I haven’t tried it out myself, those who have (including our very own Bryan Calhoun) say it’s the real deal.

But it hasn’t been all smiles and sunshine for the 3DS. On our last show of 2010 we talked about Nintendo’s self issued warning that children under the age of six shouldn’t play the new system, for fear it could damage their eye sight. Even though the American Optometric Association came out a few weeks later and said it might be a good thing.  Then this week word came out that some people were feeling sick after playing the new hand held console

Still, I don’t think any of that negative press is going to hurt sales, at least not at launch time. I think this thing is going to sell like it’s a Tickle Me Elmo and the year is 1998.  One thing is for sure, we here at Got Game will be all over it.

Check right back here for the latest, you can get updates on our twitter page: @gotgame590.  Or you can follow each host individually: @zcooperstown, @mominqureshi @christinechubb and @brylogical.

Check it out… That’s Christine Chubb – our new co-host.
She also loved the Little Big Planet 2 cookies (although there’s no photographic evidence to prove that).

You heard our preview of Little Big Planet 2 on last week’s show… and we touched on the idea of the creation tools being a little more accessible.

Here’s a conversation we had with the man who’s charged with the task of doing just that – making it so that you and I can look like creative geniuses.

Meet Christoph Villedieu.  Just a gamer who happened to be brought aboard by Media Molecule to try and perfect level design for you, me, and them.

For our impressions on whether their goals were actually achieved… and whether it’s actually easy to turn dream-levels/games into real levels/games, tune in to next week’s show.

Hey Got Gamers,

This week the word Wii takes on a whole new meaning for videogames because we start off our show with a discussion on Sega’s new range of Toylet games. Here’s a video of the Dreamcast‘s baby brother in action.

But this isn’t Got Toylet.

We have far more than urine controlled gaming to talk about this week, and we do it during something we call the Got Game podcast. As always you can find the podcast in the audio file below this sentence.
