Hey Got Gamers,

We would like to start off this show blog by apologizing for the screw up with this weekend’s podcast. However, all in right in the world of Got Game once again, and in the audio file below this sentence you can find a complete copy of our latest Post-Broadcast Podcast: the Got Game show for Saturday, July 10th, 2010.

This week on Got Game we discussed:

  • Some recent news about NBA JAM, and a rumor that it may be coming to more than one console. We won’t break it all down for you until you listen to the show, but we’re also not heartless either. We’ve linked to an extremely funny video, that Ken found, regarding a new video game curse for NBA JAM. Trust us, it is well worth watching this video to the very end.
  • How Activision-Blizzard feels they’re getting shafted by the consoles makers, when it comes to the amount of money that Activision-Blizzard sees for the sale of Call of Duty games. At least that’s the simple version of Bobby Kotick’s statements to the Financial Times. You can read the longer version in this article that the Financial Times posted on Yahoo. However, you’ll have to listen to this week’s Got Game if you want to hear us break down his comments, as well as give some pros and cons regarding the reality of the situation that Activision-Blizzard now finds itself in.
  • A report that Bloomberg released regarding the Xbox Live service making money for Microsoft at a pace that could only be described as hand over fist. Listen to the show to find out how and why.

Plus we interview a couple of Harmonix team members about Dance Central…

… and Rockband 3. We were unable to play the whole of our Rockband 3 interview in this week’s show, so please find the whole interview in the audio file below this sentence.

In our review section this week, Zack tells us if Crackdown 2 is worth your time.

And Calhoun does the review time warp… again, on Singularity.

Podcast Problems

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Hey Got Gamers,

I am sorry to report that we’re having issues with this week’s podcast. We are aware that the latest podcast is broken and we will have it fixed as soon as possible. We’ll let you know when it’s back up and good to download.

Our apologies,
The Got Game Crew

Hey Got Gamers,

As you may or may not know, we were once again a man short this week. Momin is spending some time visiting family in the UK. Therefore, this week it’s up to Zack, Ken, and Calhoun take on the duties of 4 gaming hosts and bring you this heated edition of Got Game.

This week on Got Game we spent time talking about:

  1. How Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto wants to create a new character, and if that’s the right move for Nintendo to make.
  2. TJ Allard‘s pilot episode for a video game culture show which is supposed to air during the prime-time hours on NBC.
  3. Mission for Miracles; a charity that uses Microsoft’s Xbox360 to gather donations for the Sick Kids Hospitals across Canada.
  4. We also talked about the following youtube clip, but you’ll have to listen to this week’s show to get the context.
  5. And we reviewed Transformers: War of Cybertron.

However, that’s not everything we discussed. After this year’s E3, Nintendo seems to have switched places with Sony and Microsoft. While the PS3 and the Xbox360 are getting motion controls and casual game titles, Nintendo brought a retro remake line up that seems to be targeted at hardcore gamer. Given the direction Nintendo has taken these last few years, the hardcore titles seem to be an odd choice, so Ken and Calhoun took some time to chat with Nintendo Canada’s Matt Ryan about the direction Nintendo is taking.

You can catch that interview in the podcast at the top of this post, but there is one major thing that wasn’t discussed during the show; primarily because it would make terrible radio. Here is the most up to date launch schedule we have for Nintendo’s big 2010 releases:

  • Kirby’s Epic Yarn = Fall 2010
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns = Holiday 2010
  • Samurai Warrior 3 = September 27, 2010
  • Wii Party = Fall 2010
  • NHL Slapshot = September 7, 2010
  • Disney’s Epic Mickey = Holiday 2010
  • GoldenEye 007 = Holiday 2010
  • Dragon Quest 9 = July 11, 2010
  • Golden Sun Dark Dawn = Holiday 2010
