Hey Got Gamers,

I feel the need to start this blog off by correcting  a bit of misinformation you may hear on this week’s show.  Running out of gas on the first lap does not count as being dominated. Having it happen to me twice in one race does not mean I am a terrible driver; it simply means I have the worlds worst pit crew. And that’s exactly what happened when I took these two go-karts out onto the track during the ModNation Racers media event…

karts.jpg

…That’s not being dominated.

So now that we got that all cleared up, you must be thinking, “what in the world is he talking about?” Well the answer to this question and so many other things can be found in the audio file below, or as we like to call it, the Got Game Podcast for Sunday, May 30th, 2010.

[audio:http://bit.ly/dasrhQ]

Now believe it or not, we somehow managed to pack even more content then normal into this week’s episode. We still were not able to get it all in, but this week:

  1. - We start off the discussing a rumor that we we found on the ESPN website regarding Micheal Jordon being in, and on the cover of, NBA 2K11. Is this an automatic win for 2K Sports?
    |
  2. - The crew debates the idea of the iPed, an iPad knock off that run’s on Google’s Android operating system. Is this something that Apple needs to fear? Our thoughts on the matter can only be found inside our podcast; but, below you can see what a iPad knock-off, running on the Android operating system, would look like.
    |
    image.jpg
  3. - And as we’re entering the magical time of this year’s E3, the usual rumors are starting to surface. 1 of the more realistic rumors we’ve heard so far is regarding the launch date and price of project Natal. We discuss if this new price is still low enough to convince us and the gaming-nation to pick one up.
    |
  4. - Another rumor we heard is about Sony offering a two-tiered online service for their PlayStation 3. What are the details and is this a smart move? Check the podcast for the answers to those questions.
    |
  5. We also manage to literally go inside a game called BackBreaker. We’re not talking virtual reality here, but it is all sorts of awesome. All I am going to say regarding this, at least before you hear the show, is GO L.A. RAPTORS!

|

Plus we somehow find time to review:

Blur

Super Mario Galaxy

And do a hands on impressions of ModNation Racer (full review to come next week)

And finally, if you did not get a chance to go down to the Mario Galaxy 2 launch, at the Yonge Dundas Square last weekend, here are some images we took on location.

photo21.jpgphoto31.jpgphoto41.jpg

Also, Momin had a chance to talk to Nintendo Canada’s Matt Ryan about Super Mario Galaxy 2, and for your listening pleasure here is that discussion (in the audio file below this sentence).

Hey Got Gamers,

This is just heads up that this week’s show blog is a little strange. That’s because this past week was a busy one for us, as it was for anyone.

It was so busy that we really only had the time to touch on the ideas of a heavy rain movie and Gus Johnson taking over the play-by-play duties for the next Madden game (here is Gus calling a UFC fight). However, even though some things change, a few things always stay the same. Like the location of the podcast, which as always you can hear in the audio file below.

[audio:http://pmd.fan590.com/podcasts/got_game/gg_20100523.mp3]

The rest of this week’s show went to talk about 5 games:

1. Split/Second

2.Mod Nation Racers

3. Alan Wake

4. Red Dead Redemption

5. Skate 3

So I was surfing around the internet (do people still say that these days?), and I came across these beautiful architectural concepts.

Split/Second Bonus Show Blog!

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Hey Got Gamers!

Like we promised at the end of our show this past weekend, we have a bonus show for you this today, and it’s all about Split/Second!

Cue the explosions!

split-second-airport-11.JPG

And while it’s odd for us to post a show on a Tuesday, some things will forever remain the same. For example, as usual you can find the show in the audio file below this sentence.

[audio:http://pmd.fan590.com/podcasts/got_game/gg_20100518.mp3]

Not sure what Split Second is? Well the show will explain everything you need to know, but radio always sucks for visuals, so here is the Split Second trailer from E3 2009. It will give you an idea of what the game looks like.

Hey Got Gamers!

Today is the day that we celebrate the aniversary of one of the greatest video games of all time. Which one is it? Well, you’ll find that out later in this blog. First we would like to present the Got Game podcast for Monday, May, 17, 2010; and as always, you can find it in the audio file below this sentence.

[audio:http://pmd.fan590.com/podcasts/got_game/gg_20100517.mp3]

This week on Got Game:

1. We dicussed a trip that Momin and Calhoun took to see Split Second. While there they had a chance to take a ride with some professional stunt drivers; and because a picture is worth a 1000 words, they decided to snap some.

Here is Momin getting out of a vehicle just after he finished a lap around the stunt course.

photo.jpg

Here is one of the stunt drivers beside one of the vehicles that they were using that day.

photo2.jpg

2. We are also finally able to talk about Alan Wake, so we played an interview that Calhoun recorded with Remedy Entertainment’s Oskari Hakkinen.

Then we decided to roast some marshmellows around the camp fire as Zack told us the origins of the Ghost of U of T.

3. We also took some time to debate the pros and cons of a rumor we heard regarding the CHL possibily coming to EA’s NHL 11. However, we should stress this is not confirmed yet. It’s just a very cool idea at the moment.

4. We then discussed something that has already been confirmed: EA Sports’ Online Pass. Is this a smart business move, or just a chance for EA to double dip the consumer’s wallet? We debate on this week’s Got Game, but don’t forget to check out the blog post we wrote about it for more information.

And believe it or not, we somehow managed to find enough time to review 3D Dot Game Heroes.

However, as always there was just not enough time to fit everything into one show. There is always way to much going on, but this week we got some help from 3 of the greatest guys in sports radio. Don Landry and Gord Stellick, along with Mike Eppel from 680 News, brought some awesome gaming trivia to The Big Early morning show on Monday, May 17, 2010. What’s it about? Well you can find that out by listening to the audio file below this sentence.

EA’s new Pass comes Online

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Hey GOT GAMERS!

If you have yet to hear the latest from EA Sports, they’re about to introduce something new for the XBOX360 and PlayStation 3. They’re calling it the Online Pass, and it seems to be exactly what it sounds like. A redeemable code that will come in all unopened copies of EA Sports titles. When redeemed, it will give a single user acess to what EA Sports calls, “online features and bonus content.”

According to this this video that we found on the EA Sports’ website, “online features and bonus content” also includes multiplayer modes and online play. Basically, anyone who wants to play their EA Sports titles online will now have 3 options. The first is to purchase new copies of all the EA Sports games, and automatically get a Online Pass code each time. The second option is to continue to buy pre-owned games, but at the same time, purchase a seperate Online Pass code from GameStop stores for around $10 per game. However, that price may change for us in Canada. In a press release, EA noted that, “(i)nternational pricing will be announced within territories in the near future.” The final option is to just never play online.

Look for the Online Pass program to start next month when Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11 is released on June 8th, 2010.

Tutorials on how to obtain and use Online Pass codes, or how to access 7-day trials of the Online Pass program, can be found at http://www.easports.com/onlinepass.

Xbox Canada’s TV provider revealed

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Hey Got Gamers,

During this past weekend we had Gamefocus’ Jay Acevedo on Got Game to talk about a story he recently broke. A few days have past since then, and there’s been a major development with the story.

Thank’s to Jay’s efforts we now know who the TV provider will be.

Drum roll please…

ipg_komodo_lg.jpg

… it’s Telus!

That was a little anti-climatic I am sure, but we figured you would appreciate the image. Also, while we’re on the topic of the image, we have no idea if Telus TV will look anything like that when it is on the Xbox. Basically, the only thing we can confirm right now is that Telus will be the service provider. Don’t worry though, we will pass on any details that we learn.

However, in the here and now, I would expect that this idea has caught a few Got Gamers off guard. The majority (but far from all) of our listenership resides with us in Ontario, and Telus doesn’t even advertise TV as service in this province.

However, after a little research I found that Got Gamers on the west coast of this fine nation will be familiar with the concept of Telus TV, and according to Jay’s story, “Telus has been testing an updated version of its current Telus TV service (PVR Anywhere) in various provinces across Canada including British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec.”

Additional:

I forgot to mention that if you’re a Got Gamer living in the States then AT&T will be providing your Xbox TV.
