HEY THERE GOT GAMERS!!!
How are you enjoying this busy video game season? It’s feels like a virtual wonderland for us on the Got Game crew. With the new Super Mario Brothers, Left 4 Dead 2, and Assassin’s Creed 2 all out this past week, it is hard to find much in this world to argue about at the moment.
However, we are pretty good at our jobs, so we found a whole episode worth of content to debate back and forth. But just between you and me, we like to call it the Got Game Podcast for Saturday, November, 21st, 2009; and as always you can find it below this sentence.

This week on Got Game:
- we break down 4 of the biggest titles of this holiday gaming season
- we continue to discuss terrorism in gaming
- and we ask the question: “would a subscription based model be a good thing for Sony’s PSN?”
|
All that and more on this episode of GOT GAME!

We all knew that Sony would end play charging for PSN. Nobody should be surprised. It also makes sense because Sony is really behind and desperately needs to start pulling in some kind of profit. Whether it’ll be close to Microsoft’s 60ish a year is debatable. It’s Sony.
However, Microsoft’s LIVE Gold is 60 bucks for online gaming. Everything else is in the Silver (free). You still have to buy points for certain add-ons, maps, etc.
PSN is saying online gaming will remain free and that the paid subscription will include premium content. What premium content? I’ve yet to find anything minus, “premium content.”
Paying for a subscription, whether Microsoft’s or Sony’s service is fine. But having to pay for downloadable content on top of that is kind of a piss-off. Those “points”, though they vaguely hide the actual price, cost real money on top of your subscription fee.
- SixthIt makes sense what sixth said, but at the same time you don’t have to pay for extra content if you don’t want to…like I’m not gonna go out of my way to get extra planes in Ace Combat for instance but I’ll gladly pay for more content for Borderlands that dropped today….the gaming stuff is fine, my gripe is the weird charges for things like themes avatar clothing and gamer pics. that is pretty ridiculous.
I wonder what owning rockband and ALL the D/L songs that have released to this point would tally up to be….? probably astronomical.
- RandyAny other PS3 users out there that are upset with 2K/Take2 in their decision NOT to patch NHL2K10?
Especially since the 360 patch seems to have made 2K10 sooo much more playable now?
It seems it has to ‘possibly’ do with Take2/2K’s decision to not have to pay SONY the bandwidth fee they charge to carry the patch on PSN. It’s not SONY’s fault. If that’s the cost of doing business on the PS3, and 2K decided NOT to support their product, customers, PS3 customers have every right to be upset.
