Colin James Review

“I am a tired but VERY happy Freeloader this morning. Last night a friend and I saw Colin James live at the Jubilee Auditorium thanks to the two tickets I won as a JACK Freeloader. I first saw Colin live about 20 years ago and I was totally amazed at him back then. Last night he blew me away! He is one of the best live performers I have ever seen. The vocals were great, his band was tight and his guitar work was superb – a WICKED show!! His opening act, Suzie McNeil, got the audience revved up and ready for Mr. James. It was a great way to spend an evening! It pays to be a Freeloader – thanks JACK!!”
Memories of a fabulous Freeloader vacation!!

I wanted to share some memories of our fabulous Freeloader vacation. I won back in November 2006- just a few months after the Freeloader program was launched- I had signed on right away and have been collecting points ever since. Matt and Eric called at about 6:15 in the morning to tell me I had won a trip to Montego Bay! I was so stunned all I kept saying was “sweet!”, which embarrassed the heck out of my teen-aged kids as the clip was replayed all day! lol
We had a terrific non stop flight from Calgary to Jamaica on Air Transat in March of 2007- we had forked out an extra $150/each to fly their ‘first class’ and it was sooo worth it as my husband is a tall guy and really loved the extra leg room and we were pampered like crazy from the minute we got on board- despite the fact that the flight was jammed packed, the flight attendants were terrific!
We arrived at the Royal Decameron in Montego Bay and had a great room with a view of the ocean and a large balcony. It was our first experience of an ‘all inclusive’ vacation and I don’t think we’ll ever do it any other way! The food was really great, the staff was a bit laid back- but hey- it’s Jamaica mon! The hotel had an entertainment staff and every day was a different theme. We had met a group of other Canadians at the pool, and when the staff were looking for ‘victims’ for that days festivities ( Couple Night)- our new friends outed us as newly engaged. After the promise that no dancing would be involved - we agreed to participate in that evenings stage show. We joined 5 other couples on stage and embarrassed ourselves in a series of games to determine how well you knew your spouse. But, the last test was dancing a jive! Well, after having had a few Jamaican rums to get our courage up- we were both a bit wobbly on our feet. My fiancé however, was a little too enthusiastic and when he swung me - he swung me right off the stage! Ouch! I landed on my head and my knee slammed down into my eye! Needless to say it was a very dramatic way to end the competition and we won by default. The staff took us to a local tourist hospital to check out my noggin and apologized all the way. It all turned out fine- except for the shiner I sported all week after that! We went golfing a few days later at Half Moon Bay - which was fabulous- in Jamaica you must have a caddy on the golf course and I had to explain to ours how I got my black eye when I caught him looking sideways at my husband! lol
We did enjoy our dinner out on the town that was our prize and I think I have craved coconut shrimp ever since! Attached is a photo of us just before the competition began and another of the gorgeous view we had from our room.
Thanks Jack for a SUPER holiday!

Ask JACK! Do you open your phone lines right on the dot of 7:20, 12:20 and 4:20 or are they open earlier?
October 9th, 2009 by JACK FM
JACK FREELOADER VAL asks….Just wondering on your $100,000 cash draw - do you open your phone lines right on the dot of 7:20, 12:20 and 4:20 or are they open earlier? Lines are always busy quite a bit before when you say it’s time. Just curious. Thanks! Val
Hey Val..We open up the phone lines for JACK’s $100,000 Big Bag of Cash as soon as the “call getter” airs. That is the short commercial you hear that gives you the phone number (403-263-JACK) and tells you that caller #9 gets to play. We try and be as close to 7:20, 12:20 and 4:20 as possible but depending on what songs are played we are a min or two over/under. The phone lines get blocked for 15 mins prior to 7:20, 12:20 and 4:20 so that people that are calling in advance only get a busy signal. Good luck getting through!

Tanya meets No Doubt in Las Vegas!!!
August 17th, 2009 by JACK FM
We had an amazing time in Vegas. The concert was awesome! It was a totally different atmosphere from the Calgary concert. It was all standing room and there were really no bad spots to be. We were pretty close to them!
Meeting the band was amazing. They are all so nice! They put my husband and I last and introduced us to No Doubt as special guests from Canada. My husband had a great chat with Gwen and I had a pretty great talk with Tom.
We have a 2 year old and have always taken her on our vacations so it was a nice treat for my husband and me to get away. We had a great room at Planet Hollywood, and enjoyed our stay there.
Thank you so much again for this great prize. I never thought that I would win. It was amazing and something I will always remember!
