Teach ME something! Week 2

Friday, January 20th, 2012

Each week I ask the Canadore co-op student to do a paragraph on one thing they would like to teach me.

This week we head to Giovanni Pisanti…

Did you know the Term, “It’s All Fun And Games Until Someone Loses An Eye” is from Ancient Rome. The only rule during wrestling matches was, “No Eye Gouging.” Everything else was allowed, but the only way to be disqualified was to poke someone’s eye out. Get’s you thinking what crazy things they did to each other to win the match. I could easily think of many moves that can put another man down in less than a second that doesn’t involve any effort. If I was involved in this, I would fight, but I wouldn’t say I’d fight fair.

Teach ME something! Week 1

Friday, January 13th, 2012

This week kicked off with a new batch of Canadore College students joining us for co-op placement.  They have the opportunity to sit in our show, observe the sales department, try their hand at production, shadow the newsroom and get an overall feel for the radio industry.

I decided to “turn the tables” if you will…each week I will ask the co-op student to do a paragraph on one thing they would like to teach me!

First up is Jessica Lafontaine…

“Got the pimple that just won’t go away? After you brush your teeth before you go to bed, dab a little bit of toothpaste on your pimple. The toothpaste dries it out and takes away the pimple in one night! Although, try not to use the whitening toothpaste because it can irritate the skin. I have tried this and my face is always nice and pimple free!”  Jessica Lafontaine.

I hope you have found this to be helpful…next Friday we’ll see what gem we unearth with our next co-op student!

Huh?

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Well folks, we live in a bizarre world.  Apparently this is all the rage in the Land of the Rising Sun.  If this is supposed to be sexy, it didn’t work for me, although I haven’t laughed that hard in quite a while.

 I hope they wiped first!

Vince returns!

The king of advertising innuendo is back and this makes “You’re gonna love my nuts” look tame.  Oh, and by the way, Vicki says she needs one of these!

Bungee Cord Snaps!

Monday, January 9th, 2012

An Australian woman is lucky to be alive after her bungee cord snapped during a jump in Zambia on New Year’s Eve.  22 year-old Erin Langworthy fell head-first into a crocodile-infested river in Africa when her jump went horribly wrong.  Langworthy spent a week in hospital and is now out and talking to the media.

Here is the reason you will never get me to bungee jump.  How about you?

Dreadful Christmas

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

This Christmas my 6 year old daughter got exactly what she wanted for Christmas, Dr. Dreadful.  Here is a picture of her new toy right before she ate the brains out of the top.  I honestly don’t remember having a toy like this when I was a kid!  She had a blast eating scabs and vomit that you make with the kit.  I let her Dad help her out!

First to the Hill

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

Here’s my view from the chairlift at Laurentian Ski Hill on opening day December 22, 2011…no snow below the lift, with some on the hill.  Things are changing for the better!

I had the opportunity to be one of the first to hit the slopes at Laurentian Ski Hill.  As someone that loves to ski, I could not wait for the chance to head down the hill!  There wasn’t a whole lot of snow then, but it has certainly been moving in…and it was enough snow to give me a taste of what’s to come.  Here in North Bay we are so lucky to have a ski hill in our back yard, a chance for our community to head out into the fresh air, get some exercise and have some fun all in the same location. The staff and management have been hard at work, making sure that the hill is ready to roll. Here’s to a great season at Laurentian Ski Hill!
