This morning I talked about a new poll that lists Alaska as the Top Stoner State in the United States.  16.2% of residents there admit  that they smoke the stuff. Vermont, Colorado, New Hampshire and Massachusetts round out the top five. Surprisingly, California was 10th. I asked for your feedback on what you think is the Top Stoner Province in Canada and it wasn’t long before Steve gave us a call.  He’s been around the world in his 50 years and says he has the data to definitively tell us which province is the cloudiest when it comes to pot smoke!

Thanks for the call Steve!

Pearl Jam Twenty documentary trailer

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

We found out this week that Cameron Crowe’s Pearl Jam documentary, “Pearl Jam Twenty” will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival next month.  I’m interested to see what Cameron Crowe has done with the story of one of rock’s finest bands.  Here’s a peek at what’s to come with the Pearl Jam Twenty trailer!

Here in Canada, we can’t even crack a smile in our driver’s license photo, but an Austrian driver has the right to wear a kitchen utensil on his head in his license picture.

Niko Alm has been granted permission to wear a pasta strainer on his head in his driver’s license photo. The Austrian, who is a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, a light-hearted faith whose members call themselves pastafarians, says the strainer is his “religious headgear”. A medical interview established that Niko was mentally fit to drive.

Welcome Tom McCarthy

A big North Bay welcome to new North Bay Trappers coach Tom McCarthy.  Here is a piece on the former NHL star and current coach that ran on Hockey Night in Canada a few years ago.

Hey look…Ice Cream!

Friday, July 8th, 2011

So I’m walking down the hallway yesterday and someone calls out “the Ice Cream guy’s here!” So of course my response is “if you’re lying…I will not be a happy camper!”

To my pleasant surprise there was actually an Ice Cream Cart outside our studios! I bought a fudgesicle (which was spectacular), but I had to find out what my other options were. Patrick Sacher the owner of the cart told me about all sorts of tasty treats contained in the cart, something called “Smelly Feet” which are said to taste much better than the name portrays, “Tear Jerkers” and there were even individually wrapped snow cones! He said that his best seller is the “Drum Sticks”.

What a cool idea to have an Ice Cream Cart here in North Bay! I used to see the Dickie Dee carts and the Ice Cream Trucks when I was a kid down South, and let me tell you…I was never disappointed when I heard that familiar chime!

So if you see Patrick peddling his cart down the waterfront, do indulge in a treat!
