The best rock single in the last few years

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

The Foos are back, with a new album due in a few weeks and a new track called “Rope” that we’ve been spinning on The Fox for a couple of weeks.   This is the best rock single I’ve heard in the past couple of years.  Can Dave Grohl save rock and roll?  Can’t wait to hear the new album!

The Cars Are Back!

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

The Cars are back with their first new album with Ric Ocasek in more than 20 years.  This band still sounds great after all these years.  Their knack for making cool videos remains intact too!  The video is for a track called ”Sad Song” and it’s on the new album “Move Like This” due out in May.

Jagermeister Music Tour

What an awesome show!  I was in Barrie this past Friday for the Jagermeister Music Tour at the Molson Centre.  A few things in particular blew me away, first off, they actually ran out of Jagermeister at the bar…I kid you not.

My Darkest Days rocked the stage in a big way….I was actually disappointed that they didn’t play more songs because they are an extremely talented band.  The guitarist was down on the floor mingling with people in the crowd after their set, which shows a sincere connection to their audience.  The whole band was also set up during the intermission signing autographs for a very long line of fans.  Watch for them, they are going to be big.

Buckcherry is one of my favourite bands and they truly floored me with their live show.  They were high energy and had the entire crowd on their feet…and it didn’t hurt that lead singer Josh Todd had his shirt off for most of the show.

Taylor Hall sticks up for himself

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Taylor Hall had enough of Derek Dorsett last night and decided to stick up for himself.  Unfortunately things didn’t turn out so well for him!

Red Bull Crashed Ice 2011

It’s intense, hardcore and super fast!  It’s The Red Bull Crashed Ice 2011 World Championship and Algonquin Alumni Cat Trudel is headed with her Hockey skates to Quebec to grind it out on the downward ice track complete with jumps, twists and competitors in a fight for the finish on March 19 @ 6pm.

Cat was lucky enough to have her name drawn in a lottery to participate in qualification races in Windsor where she blew out the competition to move through to Quebec. Once there she has a few more races, both National and International before she has the chance to rip it up in the Championship race.

We know Cat will do North Bay proud when she heads off for this extreme sport.  Best of luck Cat!
