Trailer for the new Thor movie

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Kenneth Branagh’s new Thor movie doesn’t come out until May of 2011 but it is already generating some buzz with a new trailer online this week.  This clip is a teaser for the film and cleverly does not show Chris Hemsworth in his full Thor costume.  With Branagh at the helm and Sir Anthony Hopkins in a guest appearance, this movie kind of looks like a cross between a British period piece and a superhero flick.  Judge for yourself!

North Bay’s New Mayor?

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Deputy Mayor Peter Chirico announced that he will be running for council, but not for Mayor in North Bay’s 2010 election.  Candidates have until September 10th at 2pm to “throw their hat in the ring” so to speak.

Mitch and I decided to have an unofficial poll at Fox Radio.ca asking you who you would vote for.  We tossed a number of names into the poll, and the majority of listeners voted for our very own General Manager of Rogers Radio North Bay, Peter McKeown.

We decided to call him and get his take on things.  listen here

You can check out the complete poll results by visiting foxradio.ca

Improve your sex life!

No, this isn’t an ad for male enhancement products.

Our Fox Morning Mind Bender tossed this one at you… Scientists say wearing these during sex will increase the chances you will have a more enjoyable experience.  What is it?

Your clues were: not sexy and white…the answer was socks.  According to a study in the UK 80% of couples say the socks allowed them to climax faster and more intensely than when they didn’t wear them.

We had a load of fun with this one this morning.  Break out the old tube socks and enjoy your weekend!  Check this out

Is chivalry dead?  You’d think so, judging by what this guy let happen to his girlfriend.

Click here to see what happened at a recent ballgame.  This guy should have taken one for his girl.

What do you think?  Is he a chicken?

The Goblin Shark

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

A friend of mine showed me an amazing video from Shark Week which ran last week on The Discovery channel.  It shows the rare Goblin Shark.  I kid you not, it looks freaky!

The Goblin Shark

Flight attendant Steve Slater is facing 7 years in the slammer for going off on a rude passenger and making a getaway through the emergency door with a couple of brews.  Slater now has more than 15,000 followers on his Facebook fansite and the majority of Fox listeners polled this morning say he is a hero to anyone who has ever had to deal with a rude customer.

Better yet, Jimmy Fallon has immortalized Slater in a new song.  Check it out here

Kids and Cell Phones

Monday, August 9th, 2010

This morning on the show I asked our listeners to give their opinion on the issue of kids and cell phones.  Asking at what age do you feel it is ok for a child to have a cell phone?

Here is the outcome from 174 responses:

8%- No child should ever have a cell phone

13%- 8-11 years

19%- 18 and up

29%- 15-17 years

30%- 12-14 years

My reasoning behind the poll question is because my 9 year old asked me if she could get a cell phone.  Her reasoning as to why she should have one is because some of her friends have cell phones.  I told her she is far too young, and she would be allowed to have one when she was a teenager.  Of course her response was at what age, which I did not pin point as I would be sure to hear about it daily until that Birthday comes along.

Obviously circumstances are different in each household.  I can see various view points as to why young children would have phones.  The security of knowing your child can always reach you.  On the other hand, how much responsibility can a 9 year handle?  How can you be sure it’s only you they are talking to?  If my daughter treated a cell phone the way she treats…say homework…occasionally forgetting it…it could be a problem.

I would love to hear your take on the issue.

What If..?

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

What if you assembled a cast of some of the best action movie stars of the last 25 years and put them all in one film? Wouldn’t that be cool? Well it’s not a pipe dream.  It has happened, and the movie opens next Friday, August 13th.

Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren.  They’re all in the new movie “The Expendables”.  Throw in Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Steve Austin and Eric Roberts for good measure and you have a hell of a cast.  Sly Stallone directs this movie about a band of mercenaries sent to South America to take out a dictator and his regime.

Great cast.  Good looking special effects.  Let’s hope the story is good enough to make this an instant classic!

I heard this song the other day, it was gritty, raunchy and had a great riff…I really like it, so I did a little digging. The song is called Porn Star Dancing, and it’s co-written and produced by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback.  My Darkest Days is a Canadian band out of  Norwood Ontario.  Matt Walst the lead singer and guitarist for the band has a brother from another Canadian Band, Brad Walst bass guitarist for Three Days Grace. There are guest appearances from Chad Kroeger of Nickleback, and Zakk Wylde (former guitarist for Ozzy Osborne) rips an amazing guitar solo in the middle of the song.

Check it out and let me know what you think…Porn Star Dancing
