Just looking at the calendar moments ago I realized that we are just two weeks away from Team Canada beginning its quest for Olympic gold.  Our Canadian men will take on Norway in a preliminary round match-up February 16th in Vancouver.  That game will be followed by a match against Switzerland two days later and another round robin game against the USA on February 21st.  I think this years team has the right mix of veterans and youth to get the job done and reclaim gold for Canada.  Sidney Crosby and Patrick Marleau are having a great season.  Both are tied for the NHL lead in goals with 37 each.  Sid the Kid and Joe Thornton are top five in points and Martin Brodeur has 32 wins and 7 shutouts this season.  Keeping Thornton, Marleau and Heatley together for the sake of chemistry seems like a solid plan and the proven leadership of players like Scott Neidermayer, Dan Boyle and Chris Pronger should make for a well balanced squad.  In fact, I have a feeling we will see gold for the men and women this year.  One thing for sure, many of us will be watching our two hockey teams do their thing and I know I will be in front of the TV when North Bay’s Steve Omischl hits the air in the Freestyle Aerials event.  Let’s Go Canada!
