Break out the sleds! Bring on the toques! The snow has finally arrived!
We did a poll on the show this morning asking if the recent snow fall has put you in the Christmas spirit. Out of the 188 of you that took the survey, 59% say yes, the snow has brought on a festive outlook. For the rest of you, I have added a few of my favourite clips from National Lampoons Christmas Vacation…if the snow didn’t work, this should do the trick!

Christmas Train a success!
Monday, November 23rd, 2009
I wanted to thank everyone involved with the ONR Christmas train. My two little girls had the chance to head to the “North Pole” on Saturday, and I have to say they loved it! I think it is a wonderful experience each year for young children to take a ride on the train and meet Santa. You’re only young once and kids today are forced to grow up far to quickly, and it is terrific to see them so excited…and not to mention, a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done while they’re gone!

Bob Lessard was nice enough to bring in some hot peppers for Mitch and I to test out. Our challenge begins with a hot pepper called “Dragons Tongue”, and leads to Mitch and I reciting the tongue twister “Peter Piper”. Check out our clip from the Fox Morning Challenge and enter the following bonus code for 500 fox rock star points: pepper
The Band Brought on the Christmas Spirit!
Monday, November 16th, 2009
It’s hard to believe that it’s already mid November, especially with the weather we had for the Santa Claus Parade! What a great time! I was impressed with the Scollard Hall Band. They looked sharp and sounded great! I was happy to see that they had won for best spirit. Best Overall went to Ecole Secondaire Publique Odyssee, good job!
Congratulations to all of the participants in this years parade, the atmosphere was terrific, and listeners called in today to say that they were motivated to get a jump start on Christmas…one lady even wanting to put up her tree!…her poor husband…still another six weeks to go!
Are you Superstitious?
Friday, November 13th, 2009
Some people believe that Friday the 13th is bad luck. There is even a psychologist by the name of Doctor Donald Dossey that is said to have come up with the term “paraskevidekatriaphobia”, the term is said to describe the phobia of Friday the 13th. It is also alleged that “when you learn to pronounce it, you’re cured.”
I say…it’s Friday! Enjoy the attached comedy clip from Mitch Hedberg on Superstitions…and…enjoy your weekend!!!
Remembering our Brave Soldiers
Friday, November 6th, 2009
With Remembrance Day fast approaching I would like to take a moment to thank the men and women who have gone to war for all of us and those who continue to make the supreme sacrifice for the freedom we sometimes take for granted. In my mind, Remembrance Day is one of the most important days of the year. We should never forget those who laid down their lives for us and the many Canadian soldiers who are overseas right now putting their lives at risk every day. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. CHFI is one of our radio stations in Toronto and their production manager has put together this fitting tribute to our soldiers. I was moved when I watched this video and invite you to have a look at it by clicking on this link. Click here
Rodney Carrington comes to North Bay
Thursday, November 5th, 2009
The Fox is gearing up to present comedian Rodney Carrington at the Capitol Centre on April 19, 2010. You may know him from his TV show “Rodney” and from his original songs that have made the rounds on the internet. This guy is hilarious, although his comedy is not for everyone. If you are easily offended then you might not appreciate Carrington’s brand of humour. Tickets go on sale Friday, November 6th but Fox Rockstars can get to the front of the line to buy tickets for the show with our pre-sale on Thursday, November 5th from 11am-5pm. To hear a cleaned up version of the comedy of Rodney Carrington, click here.
