The New Roundabout

Monday, August 31st, 2009

The new roundabout intersection over at McKeown, College and Gormanville is up and running and should get busier as more and more Canadore College and Nipissing University students make their way into town this weekend.

Last week, Me and Vicki and Ken Anderson took a road trip to give the new roundabout a try.  Check out the video here and watch it until the end to get a Rock Star bonus code worth 500 points.

Back to School

It’s that time of year…parents rejoice!

The stores are packed full of parents and kids picking up school supplies.  This can be a very trying time, patience is a must when your child is selecting the ‘perfect’ shoes, backpack, lunch bag, etc.  Some complaints that you may encounter…

“I don’t like that”…”that’s nice, but i’d never wear it”… and so on and so forth.

On the plus side, it will all be over next week…and that’s where parents everywhere get the last laugh!

Happy shopping :)

MMM..This is delicious!

My obsession with Mr. T’s FlavorWave continues.  Saw the infomercial again this past weekend at 3am Saturday.  There’s just nothing else on when a guy gets home from a night on the town.  I just might have to buy this contraption…after all it seals in all the juices and cooks frozen foods in a matter of minutes.  Mmm…meat!!!  I pity the fool who doesn’t love the FlavorWave.

Check out the FlavorWave infomercial here.  Keep an eye out for Mr. T bustin’ down that big ol’ door!

Mitch & Vicki Pay Your Bills!

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Mitch and I have been having a blast paying off your bills with our contest.  We have talked to some wonderful people, and the fun’s not over yet!  There is still time to get your bills in, we keep them all until the money runs out.

We could be starting your day off with a little extra  money for your pocket at 7:10 weekday mornings.   Click here to hear one of our lucky winners.

Kids in the HallThe Kids In The Hall are filming their new series “Death Comes to Town” in North Bay this summer and it didn’t take long for one lucky Rock Star to call in for our Kids In The Hall contest.  Erykah Carlson was the big winner last Thursday as she convinced Dave Foley of the Kids In The Hall to call in and help earn her 250,000 Rock Star points.

Here’s what it sounded like

What a Storm!

Friday, August 21st, 2009

What a storm last night here in North Bay.  Of course, many parts of the province got it worse than us, but it got a little crazy last night around 6:00pm.  I was playing ball and the game was called because of lightning.  The downpour started around 6:30 at the ball field over on Chapais and within minutes the entire infield was a lake.  I came back to the radio station and we had several calls reporting a twister over Lake Nipissing.  Looks like we dodged a bullet as the twister dissipated over the lake and never made it to dry land. Summer Fun

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

It’s always great to enjoy some vacation time with the family, the question is, what to do with your time.  When my first daughter was young, we took her everywhere…Canada’s Wonderland, The African Lion Safari, and Marine Land.  Problem is, she was only about 3 years old at the time, so she doesn’t remember going there.  Of course we have pictures, but it seems as though it may have been better to experience these ventures when she was a little older.

My youngest daughter is now 4 years old and said the other day “we need to go to Marine Land, because everyone loves Marine Land, the commercial said so”…ah the power of marketing.

I hope that you enjoy your summer fun.  Head to foxradio.ca and enter ‘vacation’ to score 500 rockstar points.

QUENTIN’S BACK!

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

The time is nearly at hand.  Quentin Tarantino’s new movie, “Inglourious Basterds” arrives in theatres this Friday and I am pumped.  The newest incarnation from one of cinema’s most brilliant minds received an 11 minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival and virtually every early review I have seen tells of the moviegoer’s feeling of speechlessness when the film is over.  What a cast – Brad Pitt as the American soldier leading a group of Nazi Killers, Mike Myers plays it straight as an English General and Eli Roth is Sgt. Donny Donowitz, the man who wields a Nazi-killing bat like no one else.  I have been a Quentin Tarantino fan since I first saw “Reservoir Dogs”, and “Pulp Fiction” is my favourite movie of all time, so I am more than ready.  I’ll be one of the first in line this weekend.  Are you in?

Thanks for checking out my blog.  Here’s a bonus code for staying with me ’til the end.  If you’re a Rock Star, log in and enter “Tarantino” in the Bonus Code section for 500 points.
