Where’s those Shads?
Monday, June 29th, 2009
Not that I’m complaining, but I’m wondering where the shadflies are? I thought I’d come back from holidays and there would at least be a few thousand along Lakeshore Drive by now. Could we be in for a light crop this year? Am I incorrect in thinking that they’ve usually arrived by about this time of year? Am I jinxing us all by even bringing it up? I’m wondering if you’ve seen any in your travels? Fill me in. By the way, Vicki will be all about the Shadflies on our new “Ask Vicki” feature later on this week. Check it out Thursday and Friday morning at 6:40.
Thanks for checking out the Fox Blog and here’s one time where a shadfly is actually a good thing. If you’re a Rock Star, enter the bonus code shadfly before this Sunday at midnight and you’ll get 500 Rock Star points.
Enjoy the Shads! Squish Squish Yum Yum!
CRYBABIES
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve noticed alot more crybaby Millionaire Sports Stars crying the blues these days. Dany Heatley is just the latest in a recent group that includes former Denver Bronco quarterback Jay Cutler and current Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall. Heatley signed a new 7-year deal with the Senators last year, but now he wants out – apparently because he does not get along with his coach. Where I come from, when you give your word and sign on the dotted line, you stick to it. Here’s a guy making a boatload of cash who wants to stiff his club and pick his own destination to boot. So you don’t like your boss. So what! How many of us have been there but sucked it up and took one for the team? Life is not always fair, but a ton of cash gives you a lot more resources to afford the tonic. Suck it up sunshine! Whatever happened to the good old days when a man stood by his word? Apparently for some, namely crybaby athletes, that rule does not apply. I hope the Sens sit him in the press box for a good long time next season until he mans up, but unfortunately we live in an age where the crybabies too often get their way.
New Cell Phone Law
Wednesday, June 10th, 2009
Later this year you won’t be allowed to use a cell phone while you’re behind the wheel. This new law will also include texting and emailing. Finally! How many times have you been at a green light waiting while the person in the vehicle in front of you is busy texting? Or how about the driver dangerously swerving in their vehicle as they gab on their phone…possibly catching up with an old friend or maybe confirming the grocery list? Remember, it only takes a few seconds for a child to chase a ball onto the street. Put the phone down while you are driving.
