Put a fork in them!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Well my Habs are golfing.  Boston was definitely the better team this year.  Thanks so much to all of the Bruins fans who called this morning to offer their condolences! bah

I know those same Bruins fans won’t like my Stanley Cup prediction.  As much as I’d like to see the Canucks finally win it all, I’m going with Detroit to beat Carolina in 6 games to win it all.  If I’m wrong and Vancouver raises the silver chalice, this guy will be one happy hockey fan.

Kiss In North Bay

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

The drive is on to get Kiss to come to North Bay on their Fall Tour.  As of this morning we are in 113th place on the list.  Not bad, but I know North Bay and area can do better.  I mean Sudbury and Timmins are beating us in the standings.  C’mon, we can’t let that happen.  Click on the link on our front page and let’s get Gene and Paul at the Gardens this Fall!  Tell your friends and family to vote too.  I know we can make the Top Ten by the end of this week.  We’ve got the power!!!!

Summer Job Search Begins

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

The Fox is launching the Street Team on May 2-4 Weekend.  Once again we’re looking for two high energy, personable people to man our Dodge Ram truck and hit the road promoting North Bay’s Best Rock.  Oh how I would have loved to work for my local radio station when I was growing up.  Talk about a dream gig.  Application forms are available right here on our site.

It got me to thinking this morning about movies that deal with summer jobs.  I saw “Adventureland” a couple of weeks ago and it wasn’t too bad.  It’s about a group of friends who work at an amusement park over the summer.  Probably my favourite “Summer Job Movie” is “Meatballs” with Bill Murray.  If you don’t know the movie, it’s about a group of summer camp counsellors.  There’s got to be some other cool movies about summer jobs – I just can’t think of them right now.  If you’ve got a favourite of your own let me know.  Cheers to a wicked summer of 2009!

HABS AND BRUINS GO AT IT TONIGHT!

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins begin their first-round NHL series tonight in Beantown.  Look for me and the posse enjoying the game at Boston Pizza.  It’s unbelievable how many of my Bruins buddies want to goad me into a bet this year.  Where were you guys last year when Montreal was the Number One seed in the East and Boston was eighth?  Now that your boys are tops you want to try to take my money, huh?  My predicition?  Habs in six!

SPRING…PLEASE!!!!!!

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Well I think Old Man Winter is done.  I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we’ve seen the last of the snow.  By Thursday things are looking up with sunshine and high temperatures above the freezing mark, and with the Easter long weekend coming we should be in the clear!

Need a big win from My Habs tonight to clinch a playoff spot, but I fear with Markov and Schneider down, even if they make the playoffs it might be a tough road.

Coming up tomorrow at 7:40 I’ll announce our three finalists for the Fox Rock and Roll Wedding contest.  Stay tuned for the fun we have in store for our three lucky couples!

Reading for the Kids Tonight

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I have been asked to be a Guest Reader for Tweedsmuir Public School’s Books and Blankets Family Literacy Evening tonight.  I am definitely looking forward to reading one of my favorite books, Walter The Farting Dog for the kids tonight.  Thanks to Louise Anderson for lending me her copy!  This morning I wondered what it would sound like if we gave it the Masterpiece Theatre treatment.     Click here to have a listen

Happy April Fool’s Day

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Everyone I run into is still talking about the April Fool’s day gag we had on the morning show yesterday.  We played sound effects of a cell phone ringing every time we started talking on the morning show and got a whole bunch of great calls.  Here’s a sample of those who fell for it.
