BODDING

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Bodding was Robin Gibb’s nickname as a child. His brother Barry is so devastated by his passing that he has not said a word publicly. He did however speak with his gift of memory when he released a video tribute to Robin and the Bee Gees. You’ll notice a scene where Robin and Maurice- who died in 2002- are standing outside what looks to be a catherderal, as if to say, we are alright now. What a life they lived and what more they could have given the world. As we watch these images while ” Heart Like Mine” plays…. our hearts go out to the brother left behind. ~ Forbes & Marshall

You Can’t Take It With You!

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

The beauty of radio is that you can be animated, act a little, reveal some secrets, tell a couple of jokes and nobody is watching! When Barry Bowman asked us to be a part of his radio play “You Can’t Take It With You” this Saturday we were a little intimidated. When we found out that it was just reading a script and acting with our voices, we figured we could do that! Maybe, you’ll support us in our stage debut this Saturday May 19th at Langham Court Theatre.

Radio-Thon Inspiration!

Wednesday, May 9th, 2012

Kelly Clarkson has seen it. In fact, close to a quarter of a million people have watched this vid created by Seattle Children’s Hospital patient Chris Rumble. Last weekend, he filmed these scenes and in just a couple of days it’s gone viral. We know these kids. Their faces may be different from those we’ve met over the years at BC Children’s Hospital but their struggles, pain and triumphs are the same. Their stories and those of their loving families are the reason we devote our radio station and open our hearts for two days every year. OCEAN 985′s Radio-Thon for BC Children’s Hospital starts tomorrow and ends Friday. We will be there for the families and we hope that you’ll be right there with us. Make a pledge (250) 519-5437 or donate on-line.

A Movie Tribute!

Monday, May 7th, 2012

If you haven’t seen THE AVENGERS yet than you must be just about the only person on the planet who hasn’t. It made over $168 million overseas and raked in another $200 million over the weekend here in N. America. If we will flock to movies about one superhero, how about a flick that features and bunch. It’s witty, action packed and a real thrill ride. Not so sure what the appeal is about those mythical beings with superpowers whose task it is, either reluctently or by choice, to protect us all from evil. It may be the fact that their actions speak to the goodness that we all posess within ourselves. Before we get too heavy though, you won’t be seeing the trailer for the film here. What you will see is Jimmy Kimmel’s tribute to the movies…. if you have 9:22 to kill or course. ~ Forbes & Marshall
