Vic police look at a mug
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Here is the photo of the newest Internet sensation!Thousands of people have looked at his mug. You see, a bunch of computers were stolen from a Vancouver company and this man bought one and accidentally took a photo of himself. He did not know that there was software installed on it that automatically uploads any photos to flickr.com…Well, he walked into Victoria Police headquarters this week with the computer to answer questions about the theft. He denied knowing that it was stolen and said he paid $800.00 for it. He calls people who steal from other people “scumbags”. Police believe him for now….
238 miles of Dancing Queen
Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Steve Delahoyde has created a short film called 238 Miles, about his weekly journey from Iowa City, Iowa, to Chicago. As an experiment, Steve decided to listen to a single song, on repeat, during the whole trip. So what song did he pick? “Dancing Queen” by ABBA. Great song, but over 100 times in a row over five hours? When he got to Chicago he had an irresistible urge to shop at IKEA! Have a look…(and listen)
one of the most expensive properties in the world
Monday, September 17th, 2007

Like a lot of people, we have always loved the look of a log home. I always find myself looking through those type of magazines at the store. The downside is that they require more work than the average house and can get a bit pricey. You have to have a look at the one of the most expensive properties in the world. It’s called the Hala Ranch in Aspen Colorado, a 56,000 square foot home on 95 acres. It’s owned by a Saudi Prince and is on the market for $135 million. How would you like to be realtor Joshua Saslove, he’s dealt with a thousand people who’ve wanted a look at the property and has identified about 14 serious buyers. It’s worth the work though, as he may pocket an $8.1 million dollar commission.
September is National Good Manners Month
Friday, September 14th, 2007

Imagine if we lived in a country where our nation focused on good manners, kindness and the attitude of gratitude. There would be no more road rage, bullying at school, no harassment or dishonesty in the office. Families would be strengthened as kids learned the value of honouring and respecting their parents and elders and of each of us being kind to each other. Do you know that September is National Good Manners Month? The Canadian Project for Manners and Civility is holding a contest to find the most polite people. If there is anyone in your life that is always polite and uses good manners you can nominate them here.
what you didn’t know about the song “Take it Easy”
Friday, September 14th, 2007

I think we all know the Eagles song “Take It Easy”. It’s one of those ones where the lyrics were easy to remember. Jackson Brown wrote a large part of the song for himself but had a problem finishing it. He asked his friend Glenn Frey to help out, who at that time was starting up a new band called “The Eagles”. Glenn added the line about “standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona”. Well, there actually is a Winslow and a Standing On The Corner In Winslow Arizona Park ! Tourists go there every year, just to have their photo taken beside the statue of the stranger with the guitar on his back. In fact, the last weekend of September they have the big festival right there and expect another 6,000 people again this year. No word on if the “girl in the flatbed Ford” is going to show up….

Kid’s say the darndest things
Tuesday, September 11th, 2007
You know kids watch and listen to everything you say and do and sometimes it comes back to haunt you. Our boys sometimes blurt out things (usually in the store checkout or in front of company) that ends up being embarrassing! We usually blame it on grandpa. This is sooooo cute.
Our kids go back for 2007/08 school year
Thursday, September 6th, 2007
This is back to school week and I had a chance to take Adam and Noah in for the first day. This is a brand new school for them and we are blessed to have a couple of kids that handled it well. They are actually getting tired of us grilling them after school about how their day went! It’s a special time for everybody, with a lot of mixed emotions, some parents with young children suffer with separation anxiety but most we talked to felt it was about time! We hope this week has been good to you and your family and wish all parents, teachers and kids a great school year!
“Waiting On The World To Change” by John Mayer – powerful video
Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Jacqueline sent us this link and we thought it was great! She was listening to the Ocean and heard us play “Waiting On The World To Change” by John Mayer and wanted to share this version of the video for the hearing impaired. Having no one in our family or a friend who is deaf, it never crossed our mind that there were music videos with images and sign language in them. After seeing it though it was like “Why wouldn’t there be!”. Powerful stuff….this is something worth sharing.
