The Commercial of the Decade
February 8th, 2012 by Forbes & Marshall
This is an example of Canadian creativity at work. This ad aired only in Canada during the Super Bowl but now has been noticed south of the 49th. Two amature hockey teams in Ontario showed up for a regular game that is always played to an empty rink. The teams had no idea what was about to happen. When the game started, the seats suddenly filled with adoring fans, jumbo screens, mascots and a TV crew complete with the play by play announcers. The players had the experience of a lifetime and some advertising agencies are calling it the “commercial of the decade” Bet you’ll have to watch to twice~ Forbes & Marshall

Madonna is back! Think what you want about her but she is a marketing genius. The vid is full of football players, sex appeal and religious imagery to make sure she pushes all the right buttons. Lost in the 80′s
January 31st, 2012 by Forbes & Marshall
Broderick? Broderick? Broderick? Finally after 26 years he’s back as Ferris Bueller and he’s taking a day off work. If you were a child of the 80′s than you probably loved the carefree spirit of Ferris Bueller and indentified with the teenage angst of Pretty in Pink. If you are a guy, Pheobe Cates and her poolside strut in Fast Times at Ridgemont High is seared into your grey matter. We love the fact that there is a Ferris sequel of sorts even though he shilling Hondas. Revisting the past like this makes one think of simpler age when we didn’t have kids of our own and a mortage we will never pay off. As much as this is an attempt to re-capture a moment in time, it will never make up for actually being there. 1986…..wow, seems like yesterday. What would we like to see next? An ad featuring the Breakfast Club, all mature students in there late 40′s…still in detention. ~ Forbes & Marshall
SIMON DOESN’T SAY…HE RUNS..
January 27th, 2012 by Forbes & Marshall
Went for a bike ride along the Galloping Goose yesterday and a blur ran by us. His name was Simon Whitfield and he is training for the summer games in London. Went to his Facebook page and he claims that some days, he bikes 100km, runs 40km and swims 7.5 kms. It makes you exhausted just reading that sentence. Yes, there are superhumans amoung us. Simon…a city and nation will be with you all the way. In spirit of course~ Forbes & Marshall
Like the Wind? This guy didn’t even notice.
January 26th, 2012 by Forbes & Marshall
It’s every 12 year old boys dream. One day I’d like to build a tank and drive around in it! Sean Casey made his fantasy come true when he crafted an armoured vehicle out of steel plates for the sole purpose of chasing tornados. It gets 10 miles to the gallon, smells like fear and has saved his life more than once. We took it for a spin along Dallas Rd and thru Beacon Hill Park and some of the looks we got were priceless. Guys gawked with their mouths open and young girls ignored it. Maybe they thought if they waved, the lunatic who was driving it might ask them if they wanted a ride. You can see this goliath in all its glory in Tornado Alley which opens this weekend at IMAX Victoria.~Michael

Bachelor Canada is here !
January 23rd, 2012 by Forbes & Marshall
Lisa was going to apply to be on “The Bachelor Canada” but she would have had to quit her job and get a divorce. It’s not going to happen because she loves her job lol! Rogers owns the rights to the show and they own us, so a bit of a conflict. If you are planning on signing up we would love to follow your journey. Maybe we’ll put in a good word for ya! Wink. ~Michael
TIM’s vs Starbucks
January 23rd, 2012 by Forbes & Marshall
This morning we talked about the fact that some people cannot start their day without rivers of coffee. Michael admitted that he sometimes would buy (the old) extra large and a small and hang the little one out the window of the car so the wind would cool it enough so he could drink it before he got to work. He didn’t want me to see how far his addiction had become. I need to have an intervention for him otherwise I’m going to have to peel him off the walls. Oh well, disciples of Tim’s will be happy to know that the new extra large is bigger than a Starbucks Venti. Yawn. ~Lisa
