There’s a new dog in town.
Riverview Dog park, that is.
Rob Morin, Administrator of the dog park and owner of two dogs, says it’s nice to have a big space man’s best friend to let loose. “Just to have a place for the dogs to actually socialize and get out and meet other dogs. It’s been proving if a dog is kept in it’s yard and never never socializes, that’s what makes it angry with other dogs.”
Morin added it’s important to take your dog off it’s leash before entering the park. “A dog that sees another dog leashed thinks it’s protecting it’s owner. So I’m just saying that once you get there, if you think your dog is shy or aggressive of other dogs, you just have to watch them until they get used to each other.”
The dog park at the Mattagami River boat launch is celebrating it’s grand opening at 11 a.m. Saturday July, 14th. Mayor Tom Laughren will be in attendance for the ribbon cutting along with an expected 60 pooches.
