Fire crews are making progress in the timmins 9 forest fire
The fire is still 2km south of HWY 101 and 30km from downtown. Still sitting at 39,518 hectares, it’s the largest fire in the northeast region in the last 50 years.
Cooler temperatures and guest appearances by the rain are helping crew tackle the fire.
The fire hazard is still extreme with OPP enforcing the restricted zone south of HWY 101.
HWY 101 is open and HWY 144 remains closed at this time.
