Livin On A Prayer indeed!

Your chance to tell the Ontario Government to help Timmins comes this Thursday in Sudbury. The CAW and the Save Our Resources Coalition have organized buses to head to Sudbury Thursday to greet Mines Minister Michael Gravelle and top Xstrata officials at a mine opening ceremony. “We want to show both the government and the company how important the Xstrata facility in Timmins is to the people of the region. This is the community’s golden opportunity to demonstrate it face to face.”

Buses leave Timmins at 5am and will return around 6pm. There is no charge to get on the bus but officials need a head count.

“Anyone wanting to join the rally, need to contact Brian Watson to confirm a seat before Wednesday at 10am.” phone number for brian watson 266-5123 Officials also advise that you dress for the weather since the event will be held outside.

The Timmins Therapeutic Riding Association wants you to say boo! They’re looking for volunteers for this year’s spook walk at Rainbow Stables (on Mahoney Road) on October 23rd and 24th. It’s a spooky good time…or it will be once you volunteer. Use your creativity and decide how you want to send a chill down everyone’s spines. Volunteer/community hours can be earned for helping out. Give Laurie a call at 267-2786 to sign up.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, which for more than 30 years has been providing things like safe water, food, clothing and medical aid to those suffering throughout the world.

The shoeboxes filled in Timmins will go to children in countries such as Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago and Uruguay.

Empty shoeboxes can be picked up or dropped off full at the Timmins Square information booth, Staples, Zenone’s Lifestyle Emporium, Northern College reception desk, Harmony House, the South Porcupine Pentecostal Church and the Timmins Pentecostal Church.
The deadline for shoebox drop off is Nov. 21, 2009.

“People need to realize that in these countries they have nothing and things we take for granted are everything there.”

All the proceeds from the show will go towards the miner’s memorial. Roy LeBlanc
Wow. I happened across this picture of Roy LeBlanc and honestly think it is just a picture of the real Elvis and just labelled as Roy. Quite an uncanny resemblance. Make sure to pick up a ticket for Saturday night’s Elvis concert with Rod Stewart and Tom Jones. It’s just 30 bucks for a ticket in advance (you can get them at Alfie’s, Shoppers Drug Mart on Algonquin East and at McDonald’s Pharmacy in South Porcupine).
It’s sure to be an awesome show. Also we’ll have Roy on Friday morning’s Mark and Mandy morning show so make sure to tune in.
