The Berenstain Bears are headed to the big screen in a live-action version of the beloved book series.

Walden Media, behind such children’s films as the “Chronicles of Narnia” series and “Charlotte’s Web,” says it’s acquiring the film rights.

It’s teaming up with Toronto-based Nelvana Ltd., which produced the animated “Berenstain Bears” television series, and Montreal filmmaker Shawn Levy, who directed and produced the “Night At the Museum” films.

Walden says the movie version will feature live action mixed with computer-generated characters.

Penelope Cruz will make a cameo in the upcoming Sex and the City movie sequel. PerezHilton.com reported that the actress filmed a scene on Tuesday, in which she plays herself on the red carpet. It’s also been reported that Miley Cyrus will appear and that Liza Minelli makes a cameo at the rumored wedding of characters Stanford and Anthony.

Mariah Carey is on the promotional trail this week to celebrate Tuesday’s release of her CD Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. The Grammy winner will make an appearance on the popular ABC morning chatfest The View on Friday (October 2nd). Carey will also likely get a chance to discuss her role as a plain, no-nonsense social worker in the upcoming film Precious, set to hit theaters on November 6th.

Sources say that the Hannah Montana star will have a role in Sex And The City 2. In one scene, Kim Catrell’s Samantha character is spotted wearing the same dress as Cyrus to a red carpet event. In the script, Mario Cantone’s character Anthony responds by saying, “Mother of God: She is wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana.” There’s no word on if Miley will have a speaking part.

More eye make-up for Johnny Depp.

He’s going to do a fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

At a Disney event on Friday, Depp was dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow as he came on stage in a pirate ship.

He put on the Jack Sparrow walk, kind of staggering about. “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” will be released in the summer of 2011.

Depp also will play Tonto in a new movie version of “The Lone Ranger.”

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted on the streets of Manhattan reportedly shooting the sequel to ‘Sex and the City.’
