Avril Lavigne has filed for divorce.

Court records show she cites “irreconcilable differences” in her pending divorce from Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley.

The couple married in July 2006 and have no children together.

Lavigne is asking for a ruling to block Whibley from receiving spousal support.

Lavigne took to her blog yesterday (Thursday, September 17th), writing: “Deryck and I have been together for six and a half years. We have been friends since I was 17, started dating when I was 19, and married when I was 21. I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship. I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. He is the most amazing person I know, and I love him with all my heart. Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note.” She added, “Thank you to all my family, friends and fans for all your support.”

One insider says that Whibley “is crushed.”
The current issue of Us Weekly, on stands now, reports that Lavigne kicked Whibley out of their $9.5 million, 12,000-square-foot estate in Bel Air.

Avril Lavigne is the latest star to join the rotating American Idol judge’s panel. The 24-year-old pop star will join Katy Perry at the Los Angeles auditions, where they will each spend a day critiquing hopeful contestants.

Lavigne joins an eclectic mix of judges who have been lined up by the show in the wake of Paula Abdul’s departure from the panel. The stars lined up to sit next to Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi include Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Neil Patrick Harris, Shania Twain, Kristin Chenoweth, and Joe Jonas.
