There’s a heavy police presence in New Sudbury this afternoon – but it’s a good thing!
Emergency Service men and women are being celebrated with a free BBQ organized by New Democrat MP, Glenn Thibeault.
Fire, ambulance, and police services workers have brought high-tech vehicles – including the city’s new mobile emergency command centre– for the public to explore this afternoon at the Supermall.
Dennis Melanson is a superintendent with the Greater Sudbury Emergency Medical Service.
He hopes people will come for the free BBQ lunch, and also to learn more about what it’s like working in Emergency Services.
Thibeault’s private members bill would make the third Saturday in July be declared a national day of recognition for EMS workers.
The free BBQ runs from 11 until 3, near Pat and Mario’s.
