Celebrations last night got out of hand for some, as police arrested three for impaired driving in traffic stops and spot checks around the city.
It began last night at approximately 10:20PM, when a bystander noticed that a vehicle was driving downtown erratically.
Officers found the car a short time later on Poplar Street and arrested the driver after it was determined he had twice the legal limit.
According to police, further investigation revealed that he had taken the car without consent and is currently on probation.
A 19 year old Sudbury man is facing several charges.
Then half an hour later, officers conducting a spot-check on Barrydowne Road noticed a car turn around in what looked to be an attempt to avoid them.
They pulled the vehicle over a short time later and the driver is said to have failed the roadside test.
She was taken to Headquarters later where she would test one and a half times the legal limit.
A 41 year old Sudbury woman has been charged and released from custody with a November court date.
Then early this morning, just before 3AM, officers in a spot-check on Durham would find a vehicle with eight people inside.
Officers say the driver failed a roadside test and was taken to the Police station where she tested over one and half times the legal limit.
A 22 year old Sudbury woman has been charged and released, also being given a November court date.
