An early morning car accident on Manitoulin Island has turned fatal as police look to the public for help in identifying the victim.
Investigators believe it happened at approximately two o’clock this morning on Highway 551 on the M’Chigeeng First Nation, where an unknown male was hit by a Dodge Grand Caravan.
At this point details of the accident have not been made available, but police can tell us the driver of the other car has been in contact with investigators and been cooperative.
The victim, who was found without I-D, is described as First nation, of slight build, 20 to 40 years old with dark hair and light facial hair.
Police called in the OPP Reconstruction Unit, who closed the roadway for several hours as they investigate the cause.
At this time no charges have been laid as a result.
