Police have confirmed last night’s single motor vehicle collision in Hanmer was a fatality.

27-year-old Dustin Renaud of Hanmer was killed when his pick-up truck lost control along Notre Dame Avenue, hit a snowbank, rolled and then struck a hydro pole.

A cause is still under investigation.

Sudbury Police investigators will look over the vehicle to see if mechanical problems were at fault and toxicology tests will be done to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor.

The accident cause a power outage to numerous nearby homes for several hours.
