Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation C-E-O Bruce Strapp was given the Joseph Montgomery Economic Development Achievement Award in Toronto last Thursday. Strapp is the first Northern Ontario resident to receive the honour. The award was named after Montgomery — one of the founding directors of the Economic Developers Council of Ontario — and recognizes an individual’s outstanding achievement to the economic development profession. The award was given to Strapp for his clarity of his actions over time and the level of support received for his activities from the community and all levels of government. Strapp was recognized for his achievement at the February 8th City Council meeting.
