The NBA gives preference to the NBA stars and top teams rather than call the game strickly by the rules. How many times have we heard commentators say that "you have to earn the respect" or that once you are a star you will get the respect, but at this stage, the player hasn't earned the respect of the referees yet (and hence won't get the call they deserve). Games could be more competitive if referees called the rules irrespective of who was involved. What's so special about him that he gets to do this? This wasn't the first time coach put him in just to inbound the ball in critical situations and he did not get the favorable outcomes for the Raptors several times. The ref got the call right. Rasual had plenty of time before he finally decided to call a timeout. I was actually screaming to call a timeout several times about 3 seconds after he got the ball, because I knew that ball was not going anywhere. It's not hard to judge whether you can put the ball inbound or not even without the ref counting out loud.
