Sunday January 29 2012 – 11:35pm Eastern – Toronto, ON

After dropping the ball – literally and figuratively – on Friday in Denver, the Raptors got a tongue-lashing from their head coach, Dwane Casey.

And the message was apparently heard; it sank in … as Toronto came out with an inspired effort in New Jersey and blew out the Nets 94-73.

Paul Jones and I broke it down in Jersey (before flying home to T.O.) in our latest recap:

We’ll be back on the air on Tuesday evening when the Raptors host the Atlanta Hawks at 7pm.

Have a good one folks!

Raps. are not far out of 8th spot . It might be a good time for GM to make a trade.

Just love how Coach Casey has handled the team so far .
He raises expectations instead of lowering them.

8th spot would be a horrible situation. Fodder for the Bulls or Heat.
No-one is suggesting tanking but best thing for this club is to take its lumps this year with the guys we have got signed for next.
The only trades BC should be considering are the unloading of both Barbosa’s expiring deal and possibly Jose if the right deal is out there.
Dumping assets to set us up properly financially next season should be our goal. And a nice low lottery pick would be a nice addition.

It’s a bit sad, that with 2/3rds of the season left, and a playoff spot within reach, some are content to plan for next season.

Hopefully, Coach Casey has enough competitive fire in his belly to strive for a playoff spot this year, even if some media “experts” consider that unrealistic.

Maybe the GM will get off his wallet and bring in a player or 2 to aid Casey.

“Maybe the GM will get out his wallet” umm like Turk? O’Neal?, Kapono? We have done that route.
I really hope BC and Casey stick to the plan they stated in the preseason. And so far it has been going OK. Bargnani’s play has been incredible, and if it continues gives us such a huge push. James Johnson has shown that he could play a role in Coach Casey’s system and Amir is all hustle.
Even the inconsistant play of Demar and Ed Davis is completely acceptable. This is a growth year for them both.
