The Toronto Raptors won their second game in a row on Wednesday night … knocking off the Utah Jazz in double overtime.
But the victory came with a price as Andrea Bargnani re-aggravated his calf injury (which sidelined him for 6 games prior to his return on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns).
Sportsnet 590 the FAN was the first to tell you about Bargnani’s own self-prognosis following the game and the fact that he left the arena in Salt Lake City on crutches.
For more, check out the video Paul Jones and I recorded before leaving Utah:
The Raptors will enjoy a rare off-day today before returning to the floor (and their game-day shoot-around) against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.
Whenever we hear any kind of update on Bargnani…we’ll pass it along.
Have a good one folks — and don’t forget to tune in to the “HOOPS” show on the FAN at 7pm Eastern this evening.

More from Wednesday’s win over the Jazz:

Gritty,exciting win , coming from down 30-12.
Notice how how all starters were negative in (+/-) stat, and bench were all +.
Kleiza was +16, and Barbosa +10 . Maybe both deserve more minutes.
A playoff spot is a realistic goal, don’t you think?
- ChasWithout Bargnani…probably not.
- Eric Smith3 points up..seconds left..foul please! Why let the opposition shoot the 3 pointer. I don’t get it. Seems like every coach we get plays it the same way and we seem to get burned more often than not.
- MarcListen to our post-game chat with DD…you’ll hear him say they were supposed to foul
- Eric SmithI have listened to the last two games on the radio while lying down with my 11 year old son and just want to tell you guys, fantastic job.
I remember as a kid listening to the Expos on the radio with my dad and I think I am gonna take a step back in time and start listening to more ball on the radio.
S……….you guys work great together, informative and entertaining.
Don’t wanna knock whos doing play by play on TV ( I miss Swirsky) but you guys do an amazing job.
- Tinmanthank you…much appreciated
- Eric SmithAwesome post, Tinman :)
I, too, listened to a lot of baseball on the radio as a kid. Late 70s/early 80s at summer camp in Haliburton, we’d fire up our AM transistor radio and twist and contort the antenna until we could just hear enough of Tom Cheek’s voice to follow the game. I’ll never, ever forget listening to the full May 1980 doubleheader during which Otto Velez hit four homeruns. I was in my backyard, hollering to all my neighbours…unbelievable!
For me, it was the absolute best years to be a Toronto sports fan :)
I agree, Eric – you do a fantastic job of entertaining and informing listeners. I just wish you had reason to celebrate on-air. It must be a considerable grind to follow and work with this franchise.
- brento.thanks brento. beats diggin’ ditches :)
(with due respect to ditch diggers)
- Eric SmithI apologise for mentioning a playoff spot as a realistic goal above .
I forgot for a moment I’m a Raptor fan.
It reminds me of the classic Jim Mora press conference where he screams: ” PLAYOFFS . you’re talking PLAYOFFS ?.. I just want to win a game .. “
- Chasyou should always ‘want’ the playoffs…but ya gotta be realistic about Bargnani’s impact on this team. he counts for nearly 30% of their offence. they’re 6-7 with him and 0-6 without him.
